We have just returned from the most magical 3 days in Disneyland Paris, and I am buzzing to talk about how beautiful the newly renovated castle looks! How delicious the snacks are! And how the Disney fireworks show will blow your mind.

But the question I get asked most is – what do I pack for Disneyland Paris? All seasons, all scenarios: I have tried them all (and now I always feel prepared!). Here I am sharing my 5 top tips for writing your Disneyland Paris packing list like an expert.

What to Bring to Disneyland Paris Tip #1: Get Your Travel Documents Organised (in style)

Make your check-in less stressful by having a designated place for all your travel documents. This is more important than ever when you are travelling with your family or as a group, when you have multiple items to shuffle through for each person.

I like to keep paperwork and passports in a sturdy A5 document popper wallet. These are great if you have several passports because they close securely with a snap button and the reinforced sides mean you can use them again and again.

If you only travel occasionally, you may prefer a cheaper version. These zipped wallets are great for kids’ stuff, too, like markers and snacks.

Some of the Things You May Need in Your Travel Document Holder

  • passports
  • hotel confirmations
  • travel tickets (ie Eurostar, Eurotunnel or airline)
  • travel insurance documents
  • pens for filling in forms

I like to take my cards and money in a smaller travel wallet or purse. That way I can leave the travel document holder in a safe in my hotel and take smaller wallet with me to the parks.

In a Travel Purse, You Might Have

  • money in pound sterling and in Euros
  • debit and credit cards
  • driving license or ID
  • GHIC card (European health card)

How to Pack for Disneyland Paris Tip #2: Dress to Impress (Disney Characters!)

Character Clothing – For Kids and Adults!

A secret of frequent Disneyland Paris visitors is that characters LOVE a talking point. So give them one by wearing something with a Disney character on it.

For example, my youngest is a huge fan of Winnie-the-Pooh. Imagine his delight when the actual Pooh Bear went bananas for my son’s Pooh Bear jumper! They laughed and pointed at each other for ages and the experience was memorable for all of us.

You may discover that Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse have a good-natured rivalry. When we met Donald, my eldest son was wearing a Mickey Mouse t-shirt. Donald made a point to cover Mickey’s face with his hands when we took the photo.

Iconic Ears

Do you like wearing Minnie Ears? They will win you extra attention from Minnie or Mickey, and if they’re in the style of another character you’ll get a chance to show them off again. One visit, Rapunzel from Tangled went wild for my Pascal-themed Minnie ears. We had a charming conversation about what Pascal had recently been doing to cause mischief in the castle.

Toys and Plushies

Toys will get the characters excited, too. My son was carrying his Piglet toy when we met Tigger. Tigger borrowed the toy and did a cheeky hop over to Piglet who was nearby. He then photobombed Piglet’s pictures with another guest, holding my son’s Piglet and bouncing back to us.

Money-Saving Tip

If you have smaller kids, consider buying their Disney costumes before leaving home.

The park has beautiful dresses and accessories, but they are considerably more expensive than the Disney costumes you’ll find in Sainsbury’s or on Amazon. This stunning Anna from Frozen dress comes complete with a crown, gloves and accessories. While this Pirates of the Caribbean inspired costume includes a foam sword.

Tips For Adults

Disneyland Paris does not allow adults to wear full Disney costumes (except on Halloween this year). But you can still have fun by wearing a T-shirt or dress with a character on it. There are also loads of Disney backpacks, hats and other accessories.

You can also try Disney Bounding. This is when you dress up in the colours of a Disney character and accessorise with the same themes. For example, I might wear a purple top and green pleated maxi skirt with a shell bag and starfish earrings to ‘DisneyBound’ as Ariel.

Disneyland Paris Expert Packing Tip #3: Pack Your Disney Backpack Like an Expert

Disneyland Paris is a wonderful experience, but one that demands you are prepared. Be sure to pack these essentials in your park bag and you will thank yourself later!

❓FAQ: Can I take my backpack to Disneyland Paris?

Rest assured that you can take your backpack to Disneyland Paris. But did you know you can also take your backpack on to the rides with you? You just put them on the floor by your feet.

✏️ PRO TIP Store hats and Minnie Ears in your backpack while on your ride so that they don’t fall off and get lost.

What to Put in Your Disney Backpack

Here are the 9 most important things to pack in your Disney park bag:

  1. Tickets and park reservations or Magic Pass (if staying in a Disney hotel)
  2. Travel poncho for unexpected showers
  3. Sun cream and hats in the summer
  4. Warm hats and gloves in the winter
  5. Food and snacks are allowed in Disneyland Paris. You just have to make sure not to bring glass bottles or alcohol. Also, you are not allowed a large cooler. Check out this helpful list of Disney Snack Ideas.
  6. Disney trading pins (if you want to partake in pin trades, just ask a staff member in shops that sell pins)
  7. Paracetamol or Calpol as you can’t buy it in France except in an actual French Pharmacie
  8. External phone battery charger. Everything you need to know from showtimes to ride wait times is on the Disneyland Paris app, so make sure to bring extra battery power for your phone. I love our INUI power bank as it can charge two phones at the same time. It has so much energy that it can also do it multiple times on just one charge.  Perfect for an all-day trip to the parks!
  9. Refillable water bottle. We like these light, foldable bottles

✏️ PRO TIP There are water fountains in both parks, but many of them are not working during the winter months. You can fill your water bottle in the hotel before you go, or you can use the water in the restroom sinks as the water is safe to drink. 7 Secret Things Pro-Travellers Pack for Disneyland Paris

  1. European Travel Plug Adaptor (with extra USBs). To charge up your devices and power banks, take a European Power Adaptor with a UK plug and Multiple USB Ports. These are invaluable for hotel rooms that don’t have many power points.
  2. Mouse Ear Holders. If you’re taking a Mouse Ears headband but don’t have a lot of space in your Disney backpack, you will love these Mouse Ear Holders. Simply thread one side of your ears through and secure it with the snap. The holder can then clip onto the outside of your bag. I use mine every trip and it saves my Mouse Ears from getting damaged inside my backpack.
  3. Foldable foam mats. Queues for shows, waiting for the parade and snagging an early spot for the fireworks will make you wish you had a Comfy Foam Mat to sit on. They fold to fit in your backpack and are wonderful for tired legs!
  4. Glowsticks. If you are going to be in the park at night, bring inexpensive glow bracelets and necklaces for your kids (or yourself!). Plus, they make it easier to spot your family in the dark.
  5. Stylish Backpacks. Disney Loungefly backpacks have a cult following. They are more of a mini backpack but still hold enough essentials for a day at Disney, including a phone, water bottle, umbrella, purse, sunglasses, mini makeup bag, and snacks.
  6. Hand Warmers. Are you going in Winter? Take disposable Hand Warmers. These little nuggets of warmth are so cosy when temperatures dip below zero!  ➡️ Also check out my complete Backpack List For Winter.
  7. Mini Fan. A Handheld Fan is fabulous for Summer visits. Nothing is worse than a long Disney queue in sweltering temperatures. This mini fan even has a wrist strap. ➡️ Also check out my complete list of the best things to Pack For Summer.

Packing for Disneyland Paris Tip #5: What Shoes to Wear to Disneyland Paris

The Best Shoes are Comfortable Shoes

If there’s even the slightest chance it might rain, do take sensible shoes for puddles. I learned the hard way with my suede moccasins that trench foot is not fun. Not even in Disneyland Paris!

For children, leather (or fake leather) trainers or walking sandals are a must. My kids have always loved their Timberland two-strap Velcro sandals. Otherwise, they take trainers.

For myself, I wear Birkenstocks or Teva sandals in summer or New Balance trainers in the winter. The important thing to remember is that you might be doing 20,000 steps a day. Make sure your shoes are up to the task.

✏️  PRO TIP Practically everyone in Disneyland Paris is dressed casually, even at night in restaurants. So leave your high heels and smart shoes at home.
