Look Cute in the Rain! Everything You Need to Know About What to Wear at Disneyland Paris for Every Season

There is one trip to Disneyland Paris I will never forget. It was the time I wore my suede moccasin boots during a torrential storm. Trust me. No matter how much pixie dust there is, Disney does not feel magical when you’re squelching along Main Street in soaking-wet socks. That’s why you will love this expert guide on what to wear at Disneyland Paris in winter, spring, summer, and fall. I’ll go over the clothes and shoes you need to have the best day ever.

What are the best shoes for Disneyland Paris? 

No matter the season, shoes are your most important item to wear to Disneyland Paris. And they are going to be the largest item in your suitcase. So, let’s talk about them first. 

It’s abundantly clear that you need comfortable shoes to walk 20,000+ steps around Disneyland Park. So, no matter how amazing they look, don’t take new shoes. You want to bring the ones that have been lived in for a while. 

My overall favourite shoes for Disneyland Paris are trainers with cushioning. For me, it’s my beloved Nike Air Max. They look great no matter what I wear. (And I love that they give me a bit of height, too!)

I’ll get into more specific shoe choices for different weather below in my guide to what to wear at Disneyland Paris for each season. 

GOOD TO KNOW Shoes to Wear in the RAIN at Disneyland Paris

• Wet weather can be tricky to dress for. If it’s going to be significantly rainy, wear your best waterproof shoes for that season. IE in winter, wear your warmest waterproof boots. Most people don’t realise that Crocs make cute rain boots that are great for rainy spring days in the park.
• ✏️ PRO TIP: My new GENIUS item for wet weather is waterproof shoe protectors! These lightweight shoe covers are perfect if you don’t want to bring heavy boots, but you ALSO don’t want to ruin your trainers if a sudden downpour appears.

☃️ What to wear at Disneyland Paris in Winter 

Wintery weather in Paris is not to be trifled with. It can be bitterly cold. Even if the rain stays away, you might be whipped around by the wind.

Your lips and skin will be very dry. Your hands and feet will feel frozen at the early morning rope drop or waiting for the afternoon parades and the evening fireworks. 

But, as the Norwegians say, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing!

With these tips for winter clothing in Disneyland Paris, you’ll be like Elsa when she said, ‘The cold never bothered me anyway.’

Best tips on what to wear at Disneyland Paris in Winter (December, January, February) 

• Think jeans and sweaters for winter at Disney. Christmas jumpers are fantastic for November, December and early January. Try Sainsbury’s, George at Asda, Primark and the Disney Store UK for Disney Christmas jumpers.  
• Wear fleece-lined leggings under dresses or skirts.
• Layers are your best friend. Wearing light thermals or under armour under your nice Disney outfit will keep you cosy. Uniqlo does brilliant Heattech tops and leggings for adults and children. You can also find similar at M&S.
• Another great option is to try Sports Direct or Decathlon for thin, warm layers. 

• Another great way to layer up when it’s really cold is to wear tights under your jeans. 
• You could also try a padded gilet under or over your jacket. It’s a sneaky way to have added warmth without being overly heavy.
• Consider thermal socks. Even if you’re wearing a dress/skirt, you can wear warm leggings with boots and no one will be able to tell you’ve got anti-blister, insulated hiking socks underneath!  

• Be sure to take gloves, scarves, and hats. These are lightweight and you can put them on and take them off as the weather changes throughout the day. My favourites are either fingerless gloves or gloves you can use your touchscreen phone with. I take a lot of pictures and taking your gloves off to snap a photo can get really annoying!

✏️ Disney Style Tip: If you can’t find a Disney beanie, just wear your Mouse Ears over your hat!

• Wear a warm coat that doesn’t weigh a tonne. Ideally bring a water-resistant coat with a hood, especially for kids. But don’t bring your heaviest winter jacket as it will weigh you down on long park days. Try Decathlon for lightweight hiking jackets for adults and kids. 

• Just in case it pours, pack a disposable rain poncho. If you have a waterproof coat probably you won’t need this. But if you are wearing a short jacket or have kids, an emergency poncho can really be a lifesaver. You can also wear a big poncho over everything to keep your backpack dry.  
• It’s not unusual to snow at Disneyland Paris! Check the forecast and if there’s a chance of flurries, you will want to pack snow gloves and snow boots with good grip. Layers, jumpers, hats, and scarves will be even more important.

What shoes to wear at Disneyland Paris in Winter 

• My perennial favourite is cushioned trainers like my Nike Air Max. I wouldn’t bring water-permeable trainers such as Sketchers in Winter because they won’t protect you from puddles.
• Leather/pleather shoes will be another safe bet in the rain. You could also bring a comfortable pair of hiking boots or wellies. I usually stick to trainers because of having limited space in my luggage. A flat boot is another good choice. 
• I wear my Ugg boots regularly for Disneyland Paris in Winter, especially if it’s not particularly wet. They are fairly light to pack, but I wear them for the journey so they don’t take up so much room in my suitcase.

What to wear to DLP in winter – babies and young children 

• Cosy hats and mittens are essential. If you can find the mittens that have a string you can thread through their coat, all the better for keeping a hold of them! 
• Dress your children in layers. A thin thermal with a cotton long-sleeve t-shirt on top followed by a sweatshirt and topped with a jacket is perfect. Then you can remove layers depending on the level of cold.
• For very little children, try an all-in-one snowsuit or splash suit. 
• Don’t forget the rain cover for your stroller.
• Consider bringing a spare pair of socks and trousers for the park if it’s raining.

What to wear to DLP in winter – Children 

• If your kids want to wear Disney costumes, see above about layers. Those princess dresses still look adorable with a warm sweater underneath and you might be able to pop a tiara on top of a beanie hat. 
• Again, don’t forget hats and gloves. My children prefer wearing a cosy snood (a circular scarf), and it doesn’t get dragged on the ground.

What I DON’T bring to DLP in winter

• One thing I no longer bring is an umbrella for rain. The wind pushes it around, it’s often too crowded to walk with an open umbrella, and it just adds extra weight to my bag. A rain jacket or a disposable poncho always serves me better.  

🌷 What to wear at Disneyland Paris in Spring 

As the song goes, ‘I love Paris in the Springtime!’ Disney really knows how to do picturesque landscaping. In Spring you can expect to see beautiful flowers and lush greenery across both of the parks. 

Although temperatures are milder than winter, Springtime in Disneyland Paris can still feel a bit cool, especially in the evening. And be prepared for rain! 

Best tips on what to wear at Disneyland Paris in Spring (March, April, May)

• Think jeans, t-shirts and hoodies.
• OR, Shorts/skirts and tops with tights and a cardigan.
• Another option is leggings with a long top and a light jacket. 
• Spring weather is sometimes unpredictable. You will want to wear an outfit that fits these ‘in-betweeny’ temperatures. Zippered sweatshirts and buttoned cardigans give you adaptability.
• Bring a warm mac or rain jacket if it’s predicted to rain (usually March and the first half of April). I found mine in Sainsbury’s, but you can also try Decathlon, Primark and George at Asda. 
• If it’s not predicted to rain too much, consider a light jacket with a hood (late April and May). You should be able to roll it up and put it in your backpack if the afternoon blesses you with sunshine. 
• Alternatively, a thick cardigan will do the trick. Just make sure to also pack a disposable poncho for surprise showers.
• Don’t forget your sunglasses – you don’t want to be squinting throughout the afternoon parade!

What shoes to wear at Disneyland Paris in Spring

• You can’t go wrong with comfortable trainers. I like New Balance or my trusty Nike Air Max. I see a lot of Sketchers in the parks. Really anything you can walk 20,000+ steps in is a good choice.
• Are spring showers on the forecast? As I mentioned in the winter section above, the last time I was at Disney in the rain, we tried this genius idea – waterproof shoe protectors! These are perfect if you don’t want to bring boots but also don’t want to ruin your trainers if a downpour appears. 
• If it’s not going to rain, I might chance it by wearing sandals. My favourite walking sandals are from Teva. I can go 2 weeks and many miles at Disney World Florida in them, so Paris is a breeze! What to wear to DLP in Spring – Children 

• Pack a warm hoody for cooler temperatures.
• Jogger bottoms are usually more comfortable than jeans.
• Bring sun hats/baseball caps for kids.
• Princess dresses and superhero costumes are great fun! Save money by buying them before you go.
• Stick to comfortable shoes. Well-loved PE trainers will serve your child better than shiny new Mary Janes. A happy kid makes a happy parent!  
• Pack extra socks in your park bag in case it rains.
• Junior-sized ponchos are handy for a sudden downpour.
• Taking a toddler during wet weather? Consider packing a puddle suit. These waterproof splash suits are light and easy to pack.

☀️ What to wear at Disneyland Paris in Summer 

A mild summer is my absolute favourite time to enjoy Disneyland Paris. The extended park hours are perfect for twilight strolls through Adventureland with its romantic bridges and twinkling lights.

And you can’t beat a Mad Hatter ice cream in the afternoon sun!

On the other hand, you don’t want to be in a 2-hour queue for Crush, sweltering in your jeans. So be prepared with these great clothing ideas for Disneyland Paris in Summer. 

Best tips on what to wear to Disneyland Paris in Summer (June, July, August)

• When you’re in the park all day, you want to be prepared for changeable weather. Wear layers. A vest top paired with a zippered hoodie/cardigan can take you from a cool breeze at the park opening to a shadeless spot in the hot sun for the afternoon parade. Primark has a good selection of Disney apparel for adults and kids. 
• Shorts, summer dresses and skirts all work well in hot weather. Stick to breathable cotton or viscose fabrics to keep you cool. I buy all my summer dresses online from ASOS, H&M and New Look.
• If your dress is a little short or you simply want to avoid chub rub, get an inexpensive pair of cotton bicycle shorts to wear underneath.
• Disney t-shirts come into their own during summertime. Etsy has a wide selection of Disney-inspired tops you won’t find anywhere else.
• Take your family’s Disney experience up a notch with matching family t-shirts.
• Loose, cropped trousers or palazzo pants in a light colour are fantastic for Disney parks in the summer. Tu at Sainsbury’s usually has a flattering selection of flowy summer trousers.
• Don’t forget to bring sunglasses and sun hats. Wrinkles around your eyes are for life.
• Mouse ears are a must-have for Disneyland Paris in my book. Etsy has beautiful and inexpensive Minnie ears. And you can support small business owners at the same time!
• The importance of sun cream goes without saying. My pale skin loves Ultrasun because it feels light and doesn’t stain my clothes yellow. Ultrasun also has new versions like tinted sun cream for your face and even a glimmer sun cream if you’re after a bit of sparkle (it is Disney after all!).

What clothes and shoes to wear to Disneyland Paris in Summer – Children 

• You can’t go wrong with a cotton T-shirt and shorts for kids. The light breathable fabric is comfortable and durable.
• I see lots of children wearing Crocs in the summer. If your kid wears Crocs at home, they are a great option for Disney, too! Many people swear by socks and crocs (adults included) so experiment before your trip and see what your child prefers.
• I also recommend well-worn comfortable trainers for summer. (More about shoes is in the next section.)
• Princess dresses and superhero costumes are hugely popular for kids at Disneyland Paris in summer (but see my tip below).

Disney Style Tip: When temperatures are high, it’s more comfortable for kids to wear cute cotton Disney dresses and fun t-shirts than full polyester superhero suits and princess ballgowns. Be mindful of kids overheating. Sometimes they’re grumpy and can’t communicate how hot they are. Add a tiara or a fun accessory to any outfit and voila. A fun (and cool) costume.

• Don’t forget sunglasses and sunhats for kids. Hats with a wide brim are best to keep their little necks from burning.

What shoes to wear at Disneyland Paris in Summer 

• Although it’s tempting to break out the flip-flops in summer, it is not a great idea for Disney. 20,000+ steps will not be best accomplished for multiple days without some kind of support.

• Sandals like Teva or Birkenstock are my top picks. I can walk all day in my Teva flatforms (and who doesn’t like a bit of height?). Also, my Birkenstock Gizeh shoes have lasted years and many, many park visits.
• Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m OBSESSED with my Crocs Mega Crush sandals. I’ve just done 2 weeks in Walt Disney World Florida, and they were by far my most comfortable shoes.
• Comfortable trainers with cushioning will be your heroes for long days of walking, especially if you like wearing socks. Try breathable ones like Sketchers. I also swear by my New Balance 500 trainers.
• My husband and teenager always rave about their New Balance 574 trainers and they come in loads of colours.
• ✏️ PRO TIP Bring blister plasters just in case.

Autumn leaves, Mickey-shaped pumpkin decorations, luxe hot chocolate and chance encounters with super-villains: Disneyland Paris in Fall has all the vibes! 

Paris Disney weather in Fall feels either sharply cold, crisp and bright, or overcast and quite damp. Be prepared for all sorts with these tips for what to wear at Disneyland Paris in Fall. 

Best tips on what to wear at Disneyland Paris in Fall (September, October, November)

• Wrap up. Unless you are lucky enough to enjoy the last dregs of Summer in early September, you’ll need warm jumpers and jeans. 
• Layers are always a good idea. A t-shirt under a zippered hoodie or warm cardigan plus a jacket means you can mix and match if the temperatures fluctuate. You might be indoors for meals and appreciate being able to take your jumper off. 
• Find fun Disney sweatshirts on Etsy. 
• If you want to wear a skirt or dress, perhaps put on a pair of leggings underneath. I like the soft, stretchy ones from Sports Direct. 
• If you don’t want leggings to spoil the look of your dress, wear a pair of flesh-coloured tights. 
• A big jumper or oversized Disney sweatshirt with fleece-lined leggings is a good look for the colder parts of Fall. Pair it with your cosiest sheepskin boots for maximum comfort.
• Take a warm coat or jacket. Bonus points if it’s water-resistant and hooded for those sudden downpours of rain. Try Decathlon for rain jackets. 
• Consider a disposable rain poncho. Having a few of these in your bag won’t weigh much but might keep you from being soaked. 
• Hats, scarves, and gloves will be most appreciated in the cold early mornings and watching the evening fireworks. 

What to wear to DLP in Fall – Children 

• My kids always wear jeans or tracksuits to Disneyland Paris. For the colder months, you can get under-armour tops and leggings, too (like the kind they wear for football). 
• Princess dresses and superhero costumes are fantastic for fall. You can layer jumpers or light thermals underneath. You can save money by buying them ahead of time.
• Bring a light, waterproof jacket with a hood. 
• Hats and gloves are great for park opening and closing. It might be a long walk to your hotel and being warm will minimise the complaining! 

What shoes to wear at Disneyland Paris in Fall 

• Of course, you’ll want your feet to be comfortable, warm and dry. So, pack your favourite trainers! I love my Nike Air Max because they are cushioned (the bit of height is nice, too). 
• Pick leather or pleather trainers over canvas ones if it might rain. There’s nothing worse than soggy shoes. 
• If you are confident it won’t rain, Crocs with socks is a fun Disney look for Fall. Disney-style jibbitz add an extra layer of cuteness.
