Disneyland Paris in the Rain: How to Stay Dry, Keep Smiling, and Still Have a Brilliant Time!
I have a confession.
I am not a ‘dance in the rain’ kind of person. Give me sunshine, blue skies, and summer heat any day. But here’s the thing. I’ve been to Disneyland Paris so many times in the rain (because hello, January, February, March when you get the best deals!), and I’ve learned to love it.
Every time I think, ‘Oh no, this is going to be miserable,’ I end up being surprised by just how much fun we have. My kids? I always assume they’re going to be grumpy about being wet, but we’ve had some of our best memories at Disneyland Paris in the rain.

🙋🏼♀️ Error in Footwear = Comedy Potential
One rainy trip, my son was wringing out his socks after a particularly aggressive storm, and it was such a miserable sight we just burst out laughing. Another time, I made the rookie mistake of wearing suede moccasins with no backup plan. The heavens opened, my shoes got absolutely soaked, and I ended up wearing two Disneyland shopping bags inside my shoes to protect my very last pair of dry socks. (Not my most stylish look, but fairly effective I must admit).

And that’s the thing. Disney isn’t about perfect weather; it’s about memory-making, bonding, and finding joy in the unexpected. So, if you’re heading into a rainy day at Disneyland Paris, don’t worry! With a little preparation (and a good sense of humour), it might just turn out to be one of your favourite trips yet.

Will It Rain at Disneyland Paris? How to Check the Forecast
If you’re wondering whether you should pack the ponchos, let me save you some time: Yes. Yes, you should.
Paris is notorious for surprise showers, and forecasts change faster than a spinning teacup at Alice’s unbirthday party. The best way to stay ahead of the weather is by using a solid local French weather app (there’s a great one in my Best Apps for Disneyland Paris post). Just keep in mind that even if it says ‘partially cloudy skies,’ a rogue rain drop brigade may still have plans to invade.
🌈 Moral of the story? Be prepared and pack for the worst. That way, if the rain does hold off, it’s just a bonus.

The Pros & Cons of Disneyland Paris in the Rain

Rainy Day Essentials for Disneyland Paris
Rainy day at Disneyland Paris? It’s not the time for cute shoes or optimism. It’s time to dress like a
- Waterproof socks – Absolute game-changer.
- Emergency ponchos – Cheaper to buy in advance (we love this family pack of disposable ponchos).
- Buggy covers – Don’t let your stroller become a puddle-mobile.
- Waterproof backpack – Best idea. Or, if yours is only a water-resistant backpack, just pop it under your poncho. Mine even has a hidden pocket to safely stow passports.
- Extra clothes & socks – Please, learn from my sock saga. 😂
- Avoid suede shoes – Just… trust me.
- Puddle suits for little kids – Let them embrace the chaos.
- Microfibre towel – To dry ride seats and benches. (I especially recommend one for Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean because the person in front will have stepped on your seat with wet shoes!)

Don’t Want to Pack Wellies on a Plane? Meet the Happy Medium.
If you love your trainers and want to avoid squelching around all day, we discovered that these waterproof shoe covers are an absolute gem. Whether you’re packing light for a flight, praying the patchy weather holds, or just can’t bear to ruin your best shoes, these are a lifesaver.
They zip up, grip well, and only cost about a tenner (cheaper than therapy for ruined suede.)

Oh No! You’re Getting Drenched? Here’s Where to Buy a Poncho in Disneyland Paris (Fast!)
Yes, you can absolutely buy a poncho at Disneyland Paris if the heavens suddenly open. Trust me, you wouldn’t be the first to do a soggy dash into the nearest shop. (Even I had to dip into my snack budget and buy one this summer! 😩)
Most of the big merchandise shops — like World of Disney in Disney Village, Emporium on Main Street, or the Chez Marianne boutique near Ratatouille in Disney Adventure World — keep ponchos behind the till. They’re not out on display, so just ask a Cast Member and they’ll fetch one for you.
🧒 Kids’ poncho: €12.50
🧑 Adults’ poncho: €16.50
💡 Top tip: Look out for the tiny miniature display poncho hanging at the register (photo above) — it’s like a little beacon for the desperate and drenched.

💸 Are Disneyland Paris Ponchos Worth It?
Umm, well… not gonna lie. Disneyland Paris ponchos are roughly the price of a sit-down lunch, which may make your eyes water as much as the rain. But to be fair, they’re actually great quality. The Disneyland Paris version is thick, has Mickey on the back, and if it rips, you can show your receipt and ask for a replacement. (Very handy if it snags on a stroller wheel.)
Or, Save Money and Bring Your Own
If you’re prepping in advance, I swear by this £10 family pack of six disposable ponchos from Amazon: 👉 Emergency Ponchos for Families – 6 Pack They fold up tiny, weigh nothing, fit in any backpack, and won’t make you cry if one gets sacrificed to the rain gods.

What About Parades and Fireworks at Disneyland Paris in Rain?
Your kids are hyped, your feet are wet, and you need to know: are we staying for the show or heading for hot cocoa? Here’s how rain affects parades and the big finale.
- Disney Stars on Parade and Seasonal Parades – Often modified with less floats and more walking characters in mild weather or cancelled in more serious storms.
- Fireworks & Drones – Fireworks almost always go ahead. Drones? Not so much.
- Reserved Viewing – Always worth it in wet weather. Only cancellable 3 days before.
✨3 Tips to Make Rainy Days
More Magical
