The Full Guide to PYM Kitchen

Here is everything you need to know about PYM Kitchen before you book it. From what food they have to how much it costs and whether it’s right for your family, this guide has everything you need to know and more.

Where is PYM Kitchen?

PYM Kitchen is located in Marvel Avengers Campus in the Walt Disney Studios theme park at Disneyland Paris.

The restaurant sits opposite Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure and shares restrooms with Stark Factory: Pizza and Pasta.

What Does PYM Kitchen Stand For?

If you are new to the story of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, let me start by sharing what PYM is and how it relates to PYM Kitchen, the newest restaurant in Disneyland Paris.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Dr Hank Pym is a brilliant physicist and, among other things, a scientific adventurer. He discovered PYM particles: subatomic particles capable of altering size.

PYM Kitchen is named after Dr Hank Pym and his Pym particles. Disney Imagineers have created a dining experience where the food has been affected by Pym technology and appears in larger and smaller sizes for guests to enjoy.

What does the PYM Kitchen Restaurant Look Like in Disneyland Paris?

Let’s talk about the concept and ambience of this Marvel restaurant. PYM Kitchen is casual dining with an open space serving room. The atmosphere is lively and bustling, just like a Stark Industries laboratory. This makes it the perfect Disneyland Paris restaurant for families and fans of the Marvel movies.

The walls have a fun mix of bright posters and scientific blueprints, while the ceiling echoes the inner workings of a technological research facility.

The attention to detail that Disney is famous for comes through in every element on the table from the test tube condiment holders to the lab beaker drinking glasses.

What Kind of Food Do They Have at Pym Kitchen?

Since the story is that the food has been affected by Pym particles, PYM Kitchen in Disneyland Paris plays with size proportions.

Your server will begin your scientific food adventure with a “Quantum Pretzel,” a colossal-sized pretzel served on a hook like a specimen sample. This appetiser is perfect for sharing.

✏️ PRO TIP After you are seated by the host/hostess, your server will come to take your drink order (I recommend the blue Chardonnay!). You can then visit the buffet and pile your plate high with a mix of family-friendly culinary delights.

Examples of the Dishes You Can Find at PYM Kitchen Disneyland Paris

  • Caesar salad with giant croutons. The French and Italian dressings are in science beakers and the salad toppings are in hexagon bowls.
  • A selection of salads, including a colourful cauliflower mix, soybean ‘molecular’ salad, bulgar and quinoa super salad with goat cheese, salmon tartare and freekeh and smoked salmon ancestral salad
  • Some unusual items such as fruity melon soup
  • The condiments are fun – check out the blue mayonnaise!
  • Child’s buffet with chicken nuggets, plain rice, skinny fries, colourful cauliflower and mini hamburgers
  • Hot dishes include potato gnocchi, green beans with crispy onions, prawns and coriander stir-fry. Jambalaya, Mexican spring rolls and plant-based casserole with chickpeas
  • A selection of meat items, buttery baby potatoes, and vegetable dishes
  • A freshly served pasta station serving oversized spiral pasta with cheese or tomato sauces
  • Oversized hot dogs and a gigantic hamburger to slice up. On request, the chef kindly put together a mini meatless burger for my children (a bun with cheese and lettuce)
  • For dessert, they have chocolate pops (But be warned: although they look like Magnums, they are cake, not ice cream – my younger son was not impressed!). More interesting dessert items are the PYM-ini cake, blue marbled sponge cake, raspberry coulis in beakers, and the oversized Maxi Madeleine. They also have mini pink donuts and a colourful mini fruit tart

Our Honest Experience of the Food at PYM Kitchen

For context, my family is made up of one meat-eating adult, one pescatarian adult and two pescatarian kids (teen and tween). We were happy with the selection of food on offer; there was something for everyone including salads for mom and burgers for dad. We all agreed that the cheesy pasta was our favourite, and we went back more than once for more!

The selection of desserts looked incredible but perhaps didn’t taste quite as delicious as the savoury food. If they were to improve, it would have been nice to have some ice cream or chocolate mousse as the cakes were all very similar. What we liked best at PYM’s (as huge Disney fans) was that dishes were creatively presented and there was plenty to choose from.

Overall, the theming of the food made our visit worth it.

Can I Get a Birthday Cake at PYM Kitchen Disneyland Paris?

If you are celebrating a birthday at PYM Kitchen, you can pre-order a birthday cake for €35. It is not PYM-themed, it is the standard Mickey birthday cake you can order at any of the Disney restaurants.

To organise a birthday cake for PYM Kitchen, make a request when booking your table on the app (you’ll see a spot where you can add a birthday cake before completing the transaction).

The Disneyland Paris birthday cake is dome-shaped, depicting Mickey’s red shorts with chocolate ears. Note, it is not a sponge cake; it is made of chocolate mousse with chocolate orange pieces inside.

✏️ PRO TIP Occasionally Disneyland Paris offers other styles of birthday cakes, so you can try to request your favourite. The other options are the same mousse cake but with a Minnie or 30th Anniversary theme. A fourth cake option is made of strawberry and vanilla flavours. Currently, the Disneyland Paris app is only picturing the Mickey cake, but it’s worth asking in the comments section if you desire an alternate one.

A final tip is that the birthday cake is fairly large and able to serve 6-8 people. However, you might not have an appetite for so much cake after a buffet. If you can’t finish the cake, you can ask the server to put the leftover cake in a box, but it will need to be refrigerated back at your hotel (and I don’t think it would survive hot weather for very long).

A wonderful blog post is over at Disney Parklife about their experience with the Mickey birthday cake.

How Do I Get a Reservation at PYM Kitchen?

PYM Kitchen is one of the most sought-after tables at Disneyland Paris, and it is challenging to get a reservation.

As early as you can, use the Disneyland Paris app about 2 months in advance to make a table reservation for PYM Kitchen.

If you are staying in a Disneyland Paris hotel, you can also contact your hotel concierge as they hold more restaurant tables for hotel guests.

🇺🇸 Is PYM Kitchen the Same as Pym Test Kitchen?

🏰 FUN FOR DISNEY PARK FANS PYM Kitchen is quite different to Pym Test Kitchen in the USA.

PYM Kitchen is often confused with Pym Test Kitchen. Pym Test Kitchen is located in California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. PYM Kitchen is located in Disneyland Paris.

The two restaurants have several key differences:

  • PYM Kitchen in Disneyland Paris is a table restaurant serving an eclectic buffet. Pym Test Kitchen in California is a quick-service establishment with an a la carte menu.
  • PYM Kitchen and Pym Test Kitchen both have the oversized pretzel, but it is only in California where you get the cheese dipping sauces. (The French are not big fans of plastic cheese.)
  • Pym Test Kitchen in California serves breakfast, which is not available at PYM Kitchen in Paris.
  • PYM Kitchen in Paris serves a selection of themed cocktails, wine and beer, which Pym Kitchen in California does not.

Is PYM Kitchen Right for You?

You might be wondering if PYM is right for you and your family or travelling companions. Let me help you decide.

👍 Reasons why PYM Kitchen Disneyland Paris is perfect for families
  1. Overall, the experience is fun and casual.
  2. The open space means you won’t be embarrassed if your children are a bit over-excited (it’s Disney after all!). Also, the carpet is not pristine, so if your toddler drops a bit on the floor you won’t be mortified.
  3. PYM Kitchen is a Disney restaurant that pulses with vibrancy and excitement.
  4. Staff are friendly but not awkwardly attentive. You’ll be left to your own devices to get your food and desserts and can eat at your own pace.
  5. The restaurant can provide high chairs and booster seats.
👍 Reasons why PYM Kitchen Disneyland Paris is perfect for Marvel fans
  1. The attention to detail is fantastic from the table’s condiments to the wall decorations.
  2. The food proportions and whimsical theming are a fun nod to Dr Pym and his PYM particles.
  3. There are a few PYM-themed drinks on the menu you won’t find elsewhere in the parks. The blue Chardonnay is lovely, but you can also try the signature cocktails with or without alcohol. The mini glasses of red beer are fantastic, and you can keep the ruler board as a souvenir.
👎 Reasons why you might not like PYM Kitchen

Most visitors to Disneyland Paris will already be prepared for crowds and lively children, so this will be another enjoyable experience for you.

However, if you are looking for a quieter table service meal with similar theming, I would suggest Downtown at Disney’s Art of Marvel Hotel. That restaurant also offers a super-hero buffet, but it is decorated much more subtly, and the food options are higher in quality. It is also a little bit more expensive.

Our Review of PYM Kitchen Disneyland Paris

From the minute we queued at the entrance of the PYM Kitchen in Walt Disney Studios, we knew we were in for a treat.

❤️ The Things We Loved About PYM Kitchen

My youngest son is the biggest Marvel fan in our family (he was Ant-Man for Halloween!). His excitement was infectious as he spied all the fun details relating to his favourite superhero.

My always-hungry teenager was really happy about the quantity of food and the variety offered. He is sometimes a little picky, but found plenty to eat and even fun things to try that were new to him.

My husband and I enjoyed the adult beverages. The atmosphere in the restaurant was casual but lively, and it put us all in a celebratory mood. We visited on a hot summer’s day not long after the restaurant opened, and really appreciated the air con and the friendly staff.

I thought the food was good value for what we paid. There were plenty of plant-based options and seafood options, which I really appreciated. My favourite was the cheesy pasta, I could have eaten 3 bowls of it (maybe I did..?).

My husband thought the meat selections were all very tasty and he thought the restaurant theming was great, too.

🚀 What we thought could be improved at PYM Kitchen

We all agreed that the buffet desserts were wonderful to look at but not the strongest part of the meal. I recommend the Raspberry Coulis (the servers kept having to top it up on the buffet). Also, the PYM-ini cake was delicious.

Other guests have commented that the floors are less than immaculate. This didn’t bother me because all buffet floors tend to be a little messy, but we might have come at a less busy time.

Ultimately, we very much enjoyed PYM Kitchen. The food was tasty, the immersive theming made for a remarkable experience, and we would definitely visit again.

Final Thoughts on PYM Kitchen

PYM Kitchen is an exciting new experience in the ever-expanding Disneyland Paris parks.

It’s a welcome addition to the sparse Walt Disney Studios while they are undergoing construction. PYM Kitchen is a must-do if you are visiting the Marvel Avengers Campus, where superheroes come to life.

Prepare to be impressed by the variety, atmosphere, and magic that await you at PYM Kitchen—a true marvel for your family’s next trip to Disneyland Paris.
