Disneyland Paris Christmas for First-Timers: Santa, Carols & Arendelle’s Very First Festive Season (2026/27)

Who this is for: first-timers wondering whether a Christmas trip is worth it, families planning a festive surprise, and anyone who wants to know what’s new in Arendelle this year before they book.

The first thing that gets me every year is the sound. You come through the entrance, the Disneyland Hotel glowing above you, and Christmas music is already escaping from Main Street before you’ve even spotted the tree. Then you do spot it (it’s hard to miss at 78 feet) and that’s it, you’re in.

Disneyland Paris at Christmas is the season people look forward to for months and months, and this year there’s a brand-new reason to go. Let’s talk dates, what’s on in each park, where to eat, how busy it gets, and the little things I wish someone had told me before my first festive trip.

When Is Disneyland Paris Christmas 2026? The Key Dates

Disney Enchanted Christmas runs from 7 November 2026 until 6 January 2027, and this year the celebrations stretch across both parks.

When do the Christmas decorations go up?

Christmas merchandise starts sneaking onto the shelves as early as August, so you’ll spot baubles in the shops while the pumpkins are still out. The full festive transformation arrives for the start of the season, although some will trickle in as soon as the Halloween season ends around 3rd of November.

Is Disneyland Paris open on Christmas Day?

Yes! Disneyland Paris is open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. If you’ve ever wanted to wake up on Christmas morning and head to a Disney park, you can.

What’s New for 2026/27: Arendelle’s First Christmas

This is the one I’ve been waiting to share. This is the very first Christmas season in World of Frozen, and Arendelle is getting a Scandinavian-inspired festive makeover. Everyone on the team has been counting down since the news dropped.

What to expect in World of Frozen at Christmas

• Festive decorations throughout the village, with a Christmas tree at the entrance and seasonal touches everywhere you look
• The Arendelle Carolers, featuring Olaf, Anna and Elsa
• Ring in the Season with Anna and Elsa and the villagers in A Celebration of Arendelle in Arendelle Bay
• Kristoff popping up around the village

I am most looking forward to seeing Kristoff and I expect this will be a ‘character encounter’ rather than a meet-and-greet due to his popularity. But, you should still be able to say hello and grab a quick selfie. Another tip: A Celebration of Arendelle in Arendelle Bay will be hard to see unless you get there early – aim for at lease 45 minutes before and make sure to grab a front spot at the railings.

The Festive Essentials in Disneyland Park

Over in the main park, the classics are back. These are the moments that make Disneyland Paris at Christmas feel like Christmas.

Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade

This parade is so unique because it features glowing floats. A gorgeous cast of performers includes feathery butterfly girls on wheels (yes, really) and iridescent snowflake dancers. Mickey makes his entrance on a giant Christmas steam train (watch your 2 year old’s eyes bulge out of their head). And Santa brings up the rear on a sledge pulled by rocking reindeer, with Tinker Bell perched at the back.

The giant Christmas tree in Town Square

The 78-foot tree in Town Square is the photo everyone wants, and for good reason.

After you get a pic there, take one from the gazebo for the best view down Main Street towards the castle (it’s my favourite spot to take it all in). Keep an eye out for the snow-covered character figures dotted around the square too; half the fun is working out who’s who.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is a highlight after dusk — we’ll confirm dates and times as soon as they become available (keep an eye on my newsletter or find them in the Disneyland Paris app on the day of your trip).

Let’s Sing Christmas! at Videopolis

Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and friends team up with a live choir for your favourite Christmas carols at Videopolis in Discoveryland. My highlight, every single time, is Minnie in her fur coat singing ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ to Mickey. I dare you not to grin.

Santa and the festive character meets

I’m a character fan through and through, and Christmas is the best time of year for outfits. Last season’s festive line-up included Santa Stitch, Santa Goofy, Chip and Dale in their fancy waistcoats, Minnie in festive Hollywood glam, Sandy Claws (Jack Skellington), Winnie the Pooh in a red hat, Donald in a red jacket and Daisy in a red dress and bow.

Santa himself is the big one for little ones. For 2026, he’s in a new location at Disney Clothiers on Main Street U.S.A. We’re waiting to see whether that’s a ‘character encounter’ like Mrs Claus, or an actual meet with or without Virtual Queue. But from the artist concept, it seems to be quite similar to Storytime with Belle during Princess Week.

Aurora and Philip in the Castle Courtyard

Aurora and Philip will be performing in the castle courtyard this Christmas season. Disney hasn’t shared any more details yet, but we think it will be similar to (or maybe the same as) the Sleeping Beauty royal waltz that used to play on Castle Stage, adapted for its new home in the courtyard.

Disneyland Paris Christmas Nighttime Shows

As for the drones and fireworks, the 2026 nighttime shows are the same as throughout the rest of the year: Disney Tales of Magic in the main park and Disney Cascade of Lights in Disney Adventure World, except for the special fireworks shows on New Year’s Eve.

Same rules apply as in the non-festive season: arrive early for the best view.

Where to Find the Christmas Decorations

Disneyland Paris doesn’t decorate every land, so it helps to know where to look.

In the parks

The entrance, Town Square and Main Street (look up at the garlands overhead) are the headline spots. Shops and restaurants across both parks get a festive touch, and this year World of Frozen joins the party with its Scandinavian-inspired look. Last year Place de Rémy was decorated too.

At the hotels and Disney Village

Don’t skip the hotels, even if you’re not staying there. Disneyland Hotel, Sequoia Lodge and Disney Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel had the best decorations last year, and Disney Village gets the festive treatment as well. Sequoia Lodge has my heart for its cosy log fire, the kind of spot where you sit down ‘for five minutes’ with a drink and an hour disappears.

Festive Food and Drink

What’s Christmas without the snacks? Each year brings Mickey-shaped biscuits, cake pops and festive drinks, and the raclette at Sequoia Lodge’s HUnter’s Grill is my personal favourite.

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dining

Table service restaurants, including buffets, have special prices on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and need booking in advance. Christmas Day runs a standard menu. Last season, meal vouchers couldn’t be used on 24 or 31 December.

Beating the lunch rush

Whether you’re planning a sit-down meal or a quick bite, expect crowds. Eating a little earlier or later than everyone else makes a real difference. The L’Hiver Gourmand Christmas market was a favourite last year for spiced wine, hot chocolate, crêpes and gingerbread, and this year we expect to see even more food and drink at the chalets along Adventure Bay and near ‘it’s a small world.’

How Busy Is Disneyland Paris at Christmas?

Very. Anytime you see extended park hours, it’s a sign Disney is expecting crowds, and Christmas Eve is one of the busiest days of the year. You’ll queue for everything.

Should that put you off?

I don’t think so. With a plan, an early start and a few breaks built in, the crowds become part of the atmosphere rather than the whole story.

What about ride closures?

Disneyland Paris keeps refurbishments to a minimum over the festive period, but some closures still happen. They’re usually announced around two months ahead, so check my refurbishment calendar before you finalise your plans.

What’s the Weather Like at Christmas?

Paris in December is a lot like London. Expect highs of around 8°C and lows of about 4°C, with plenty of wet days. The wind can be brutal on hands and lips (I learned that one the hard way), so lip balm and hand cream go in the bag every time.

8 Tips for Your First Christmas at Disneyland Paris

These are the tips I share most in the group every November.

1. Arrive for opening. The first hour is the calmest you’ll get all day, especially over Christmas week.
2. Split your day between both parks. Arendelle’s first Christmas deserves real time, so don’t leave it until you’re flagging.
3. Check the app every morning. Parade, show and character times can shift through the season.
4. See Santa early in the trip. The closer it gets to Christmas Eve, the busier his meet becomes.
5. Book Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners in advance. Walk-ins on those nights are a gamble you don’t want to take.
6. Climb the Town Square gazebo. It gives you the best view of the tree and Main Street, and most people walk straight past it.
7. Plan warm-up stops. A hot chocolate break or a sit by the Sequoia Lodge fire keeps everyone going for longer.
8. Pack for rain as well as cold. A poncho takes up almost no space and saves the whole afternoon.

How Much Is Disneyland Paris at Christmas?

Christmas is peak season, so it isn’t the cheapest time to go. The earlier you book, the better your chances of a good price.

Are There Any Disneyland Paris Christmas Deals? 

Will you find a bargain? Well, Disney hotels are going to be running at peak prices for this enchanting and very popular Christmas season, so this not the cheapest time to go. But, if you want to book for 2025, it’s best to book as early as possible for the lowest prices.

The crowds, the cold, the planning? Still a big yes from me. From 7 November, the parks swap into their festive best, and this year Arendelle gets its very first Christmas. Picture walking through the gates with carols playing and that enormous tree lighting up Town Square, whether you’re with your family or, like me on one trip.
