Disneyland Paris Christmas Review: My Solo Adventure 🎄✨

Last week, I whisked myself away on a 3-day solo trip to Disneyland Paris to dive headfirst into all the Christmas cheer—and it did not disappoint! From dazzling parades to festive snacks (some absolute winners, and some that looked better than they tasted), it was three days packed with holiday fun. Oh, and did I mention? The Festive Decorations: Christmas Card Perfect 🎄

Disneyland Paris really knows how to deck the halls (or Main Street, at least). The decorations are mainly focused around the entrance, Main Street, and the castle hub, but wow, they’re worth it.

The entrance greets you with adorable photo spots featuring Mickey and Minnie or Donald and Daisy statues, while Main Street twinkles with lights, garlands, and wreaths galore. The Christmas tree, towering near the gazebo, steals the show—especially at night when it lights up like a scene from a Christmas movie.

For something a bit quieter (and totally unique), head to the Santa’s sleigh set up near Plaza Gardens, piled high with presents. It’s a cute little photo op that feels like your own festive discovery.

Let’s Sing Christmas: Goofy Stole the Show! 🎶

This was hands down one of my favourite festive activities. Picture this: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy dressed as Santa, and a group of carollers belting out Christmas classics in the most heartwarming way.

Goofy absolutely stole the show for me—his trademark laugh is infectious! Minnie Mouse was the perfect starlet: full of energy, waving at everyone and looking fabulous in her sparkly holiday dress.

I got there about 40 minutes early to queue a great seat, and it was worth every second. If you’re after something to really get you into the Christmas spirit, this is it. Bring tissues if you’re prone to getting teary during carols (guilty!).

Meeting Santa (and His Love of Cookies!) 🎅

My meet-and-greet with Santa in Videopolis was a trip highlight. He’s the real deal, complete with twinkling eyes and a hearty laugh. We chatted about cookies (his favourite), and he even joked about wanting a pair of Minnie ears like mine! He made everyone feel special, which is why I’d absolutely recommend prioritising this character meet.

💡 Tip: I only waited about 30 minutes, but queues can hit 1.5 hours, so try to go during off-peak times like early morning or evening.

A Jolly Encounter with Jack Skellington 🎃🎄

Jack is an absolute star at DLP during Christmas. His charisma is unmatched! I didn’t wait in his 2.5-hour queue (I mean, who has that kind of patience?), but I was lucky enough to bump into him as he was taking a break. When I told him he looked marvellous, his hilarious reply—’I know!’—was delivered with perfect dramatic flair.

If you’re a Jack fan and can stomach the queue time, he’s worth the wait. His meet-and-greet areawith the Phantom Manor overlooking is a fun spooky-yet-festive Nightmare Before Christmas treat.

Chip and Dale: The Mischief Makers 🐿️

If you’re looking for a character meet that’s pure fun, Chip and Dale are your go-to. These two were dressed in their cutest Christmas outfits, and the shenanigans were real. One of them snatched my Santa hat, and before I knew it, they were chasing each other around! It was like a live-action comedy show, and I was laughing the entire time.

💡 Tip: I waited about an hour for these cheeky chipmunks, but the fun, interactive experience was totally worth it.

Festive Snacks: Treats, Hits, and Misses 🍪

Let’s talk snacks—because what’s Christmas without a bit of indulgence? Here’s the rundown:

• Holly Bow Jolly Lolly Biscuit (€6.00): Gorgeous for the ‘gram but a bit dry. Get a hot drink to go with this sugar cookie!
• Ho Ho Cake Pop (€5.50): A winner! Soft in the middle and very sweet with a hint of Christmas spice—definitely worth a try.
• Mickey Gingerbread Cookie (€7.00): Adorable and soft, but the price stung a bit. Great for taking home.
• Christmas ‘Treet’ Dessert (€5.00): My absolute fave! Vanilla custard with chocolate hazelnut flavour middle (photo below). Delicious, cute, and not too pricey—I’d have it again in a heartbeat.
• Mulled Wine (€6.00): Warm and festive, this was my drink of choice, I found it in the chalets near It’s a Small World.

💡 Tip: Save a bit of money with the ‘sweet break’ combo, which bundles a festive treat and a hot drink at a slight discount. And if you love hot chocolate it’s tasty in the park, but you can grab a larger festive drink from the Starbucks at the train station before heading in.

Dining at Disney: Festive Flavours 🍴

Of course, my Disneyland Paris Christmas review would not be complete without the FOOD! When it came to meals, I stuck mostly to quick-service options and one buffet, which were perfect for keeping me fuelled while still leaving time for festive fun:

• Hakuna Matata: The sweet potato fries were a hit, but veggie and pescatarian options are a bit limited.
• Cowboy Cookout: The plant burger was surprisingly good, and the rustic décor adds to the charm.
• Toad Hall: Great fish and chips, but the standout here is the décor. Themed around Wind in the Willows, it features cute touches like Mr. Toad’s boxing gloves by the fireplace.

For dinner, I treated myself to Billy Bob’s Buffet (€40.00). The food was delicious (the cheesecake especially!), and the festive lights and decorations added to the cosy, Christmassy vibe. It was definitely worth the price.

I also made time for a gorgeous Christmassy drink at the Sequoia Lodge bar (Redwood Lounge), which has a warm, rustic lodge feel that’s perfect for the winter holidays. There was a bit of a wait for tables, but as a solo guest, I grabbed a seat at the bar almost immediately. I highly recommend grabbing the huge sofa by the log fire if you have a bigger group – cosy vibes guaranteed!!

The Christmas Parade: Two Ways to Watch 🎅🚂

Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade is a must-see, whether you’re watching from a free spot or splurging on a Reserved Access pass.

1. Free Viewing: I watched the nighttime parade by the Christmas tree by the entrance and also by the castle and adored brightly lit floats in both locations. Arriving about 10 minutes before worked fine as a solo guest, but families might want to claim spots 30–60 minutes in advance.
2. Reserved Area (€21.00): This gets you a spot closer to the action, but it’s not a necessity unless you’re a super fan of characters like Winnie the Pooh or the Disney princesses. The area near the castle felt a bit cramped at the front (by the rope), but everyone was friendly, which made it enjoyable. I arrived 40 minutes before, but I’d recommend up to an hour to guarantee front row. You can Book Reserved Access Online.

💡 Tip: If you’re solo or don’t mind last-minute spots, free viewing is more than enough. Use the Liberty Arcade for quick access to good spots!

Let’s Not Forget the Fireworks and Drones! 🎆

The Electrical Sky Parade and Disney Dreams! are pure magic at Christmas. The drone choreography, twinkling lights, and music create an unforgettable spectacle. It’s the same drone show as standard, but the cold air and holiday atmosphere make it feel extra special.

Disney Dreams! happens all year round, but still feels a bit festive—it’s hard to beat fireworks and castle projections with a chill in the air (and a warm drink in hand!).

Packing for Winter: Stay Cosy! ❄️

Winter at DLP can be cold, so pack smart! A good coat, gloves, and a hat are non-negotiables. I also recommend bringing:

• A blanket scarf (for parade sitting).
• Portable phone charger (for all those photos!).
• Refillable water bottle (to balance out the hot drinks).

My Disneyland Paris Christmas Review as a Solo Traveller 🎅

I wasn’t sure what celebrating Christmas at Disney solo would feel like, but it turned out to be such a happy, fulfilling experience. There’s so much to see and do that time flew by, and the character interactions made it feel surprisingly social.

From Santa complimenting my Minnie ears and sharing his love of cookies to Chip and Dale having a playful chase over my Santa hat, I was laughing and chatting the whole time. Even Princess Aurora in the Princess Pavilion took plenty of time to chat and have photos, making me feel like royalty.

Being solo also meant I could sneak into prime parade and show spots without much waiting. And while I missed sharing it with family, it felt like a Christmas treat just for me—one I’d happily do again.

Final Disneyland Paris Christmas Tips 🎁

1. When to Go: If you’re planning a trip during the holidays, timing is everything! The busiest day is Boxing Day—many families receive Disney trips as gifts and head straight there the next day. Christmas Day is also very busy, while Christmas Eve tends to be a little quieter. For the best experience, I recommend going in November. The parks are quieter, but you still get all the festive decorations, shows, and treats without the bigger crowds.
2. Do You Need a 2-Park Ticket? Nope! The main Christmas magic—shows, parades, and decorations—are in the Disneyland Park. Only get the 2-park ticket if you fancy seeing the festive touches in Walt Disney Studios, like the Les Chalets Gourmands (Christmas market).
3. Merch Madness: There aren’t any Christmas-exclusive popcorn buckets this year (boo!), but you’ll find plenty of ornaments, stockings, plushies, and kitchenware in the shops.
4. Shorter Days, Cosier Nights: The parks close earlier in winter, but it means you can enjoy the fireworks earlier without exhausting yourself. But be sure to check the Disneyland Paris app, as there are certain nights when the park closes even earlier than usual due to corporate events.
5. Stay Festive on a Budget: Stick to quick-service dining, and use cashback sites like TopCashback for bookings (use my link for a bonus!).
6. Book Now: Christmas at DLP runs until January 7, 2025, so there’s still time to experience the magic. Book directly with Disneyland Paris official.
