So, What Do You Actually Get For The Money?

Some Disney hotels give you somewhere to sleep. Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel gives you somewhere you will not want to leave.

Less than a 10-minute walk from the parks, it is Disneyland Paris’ most luxurious hotel — and one of the only places in the world where you will find glowing Spider-Man webs on the ceiling and three life-size Iron Man suits in the lobby (yes, really).

You definitely do not need to be Marvel obsessed to love it either. We have stayed in Empire State Club and, honestly, it is one of our favourite Disney hotel stays. If the budget allowed, I would happily book it every trip!

But, all of that comes at a price. Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is one of the most expensive hotels on site. So here’s everything you need to know to decide if it’s worth it for your trip.

The World’s Largest Marvel Art Gallery

One of the things I love about Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is that it does not feel like someone has simply stuck a few superhero posters on the walls and called it a Marvel hotel.

The entire property has been designed as an art gallery, with more than 350 pieces of Marvel artwork created by 110 artists from around the world.

The wow factor starts as soon as you walk through the doors.

The huge glass-fronted lobby feels bright, modern and seriously impressive, with colourful illuminated comic panels stretching across the ceiling. Then there is the enormous glass display containing three life-size Iron Man suits alongside Captain America’s shields, which is probably one of the most photographed spots in the hotel.

Even after visiting numerous times, I still find myself spotting pieces of artwork I have never noticed before.

It is everywhere – in the lobby, lifts, corridors, restaurants, bedrooms and even outside.

Each floor is themed around a different Marvel Super Hero, and you can request your preferred character through the Disneyland Paris app from seven days before your arrival. Requests are not guaranteed, but if you have a Spider-Man, Iron Man or Captain America fan in the family, it is definitely worth trying.

Choosing the Right Room

After walking 20,000-plus steps around Disneyland Paris, there is something rather lovely about coming back to Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.

The rooms feel less like traditional Disney hotel rooms and more like stylish Manhattan apartments, with sleek metallic finishes, clean lines and illuminated comic book artwork.

And I have to mention the beds.

I think Hotel New York has some of the comfiest beds on Disneyland Paris property, full stop. After a full day in the parks, we certainly had no complaints about climbing into ours!

There is a good choice of room types too, including options for larger families sleeping up to six guests.

Superior Rooms

The Superior Rooms are the most affordable way of staying here and still give you the full Art of Marvel experience.

They are modern and comfortable, with Marvel touches throughout without everything feeling overly themed or childish. This is probably one of the reasons the hotel works so well for adults and couples as well as families.

Empire State Club

This is where our stay gets a little more personal because we chose to stay in Empire State Club – and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Empire State Club comes with access to the private Empire State Lounge, where breakfast is served alongside drinks and afternoon food and snacks.

Before staying, I wondered how much we would actually use it. After all, we were at Disneyland Paris and surely we would want to spend all our time in the parks?

It turned out to be one of our favourite parts of the stay.

Being less than 10 minutes from the parks meant we could head back to the hotel during the afternoon, sit down somewhere quiet, grab something to eat and drink and properly recharge. When you have been walking around the parks since early morning, having somewhere calm to escape to makes such a difference.

Then, when we were ready, we could simply head back into the parks for the evening.

Our room also had an espresso machine, which became an essential part of the morning routine. Coffee, shoes on, Empire State Club breakfast and back out for another Disney day!

Empire State Club also has its own dedicated reception area and the whole experience feels that little bit more personal. Combined with how helpful we found the luggage and concierge teams, it definitely felt like more than simply upgrading the room itself.

Would I pay the extra again?

If the budget allowed, absolutely.

Marvel Themed Suites

And then there are the rooms I would REALLY like to stay in one day.

The Marvel Themed Suites are where Hotel New York completely flexes its superhero muscles.

We are talking glowing Spider-Man webs across the ceiling, Avengers-inspired technology and rooms that look like Tony Stark could walk through the door at any moment.

I have been fortunate enough to have a tour of one of the suites and they are every bit as impressive in person as they look in the photos.

Maybe one day we will actually get to stay in one…

5 Hotel Guest Exclusive Experiences

Another reason I think it is important to actually spend some time at the hotel is that there is so much here that you simply will not experience if you only use it as somewhere to sleep.

These experiences are exclusively for hotel guests:

1. Super Hero Station

Super Hero Station is the hotel’s exclusive Marvel character experience and one you definitely want to book.

Depending on who is appearing during your stay, you could meet the likes of Captain America, Black Widow or another Marvel Super Hero.

But it is not just about the character meet.

The whole area is filled with immersive photo opportunities. You can pull your best Spider-Man pose in Peter Parker’s bedroom, experiment with your superhero powers and get some brilliant photos that look completely different to anything you will find elsewhere at Disneyland Paris.

Bookings open through the Disneyland Paris app seven days before your arrival and slots can disappear quickly.

My tip? Book the earliest slot you can.

Once you have completed your experience, check the app again because you may be able to make another booking.

2. Marvel Design Studio

Marvel Design Studio is a completely different pace from the parks and another lovely activity to try during your stay.

Children and adults can follow a step-by-step digital drawing tutorial and have a go at sketching a Marvel character.

You definitely do not need any artistic talent to join in, which is fortunate in my case!

It is also a great option when everyone needs a quieter hour away from queues and rides.

3. Metro Pool and Fitness Centre

Fancy escaping the parks completely for a while?

The Metro Pool is themed around a New York subway station and has both indoor and outdoor swimming areas.

There is also a hot tub, sauna, steam room and children’s splash area, so you could quite easily spend a couple of hours here during an afternoon break.

There is just one small warning from us…

We did not find the main pool particularly warm!

4. Hero Training Zone

Outside you will find the 420-square-metre Hero Training Zone, designed to resemble a Manhattan street court.

There are basketball hoops, exercise areas, yoga spaces and in-ground trampolines, making it a great place for the kids to burn off that tiny bit of energy they somehow still have left after a day walking around Disney.

And remember what I said about the artwork being everywhere?

Look down.

Even the floor of the Hero Training Zone forms part of the hotel’s huge Marvel art collection.

5. Discovery Quest

This is one that can be surprisingly easy to miss.

The Discovery Quest turns exploring Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel into an interactive scavenger hunt.

Using your smartphone, you follow clues around the hotel, solve riddles and discover facts about the building and its enormous art collection.

We would definitely recommend grabbing the details from concierge and giving it a go. Not only is it a fun activity, but it encourages you to explore parts of the hotel you might otherwise never see.

And yes, there is a chocolate prize at the end.

Which obviously makes completing it essential.

Eating and Drinking

Now we need to talk about one of my favourite subjects at Disneyland Paris – food.

And Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is home to one of my favourite Disney restaurants.

• Downtown Restaurant

Downtown Restaurant is my favourite buffet restaurant at Disneyland Paris.

There, I said it.

The buffet is inspired by the different communities and cuisines of New York, so rather than having one type of food, you will find a mixture of Italian, Asian and American-inspired dishes.

There is plenty of choice, it feels a little different from the other Disney hotel buffets and, importantly, the desserts are excellent.

It is also incredibly popular, so this is one restaurant I would absolutely recommend booking in advance if it is on your list.

• Manhattan Restaurant

If you would rather have a more relaxed table-service meal, Manhattan Restaurant offers Italian-inspired dishes in a much more elegant setting.

Even if you are not eating there, take a look inside if you get the opportunity because the enormous chandelier, inspired by the skyline of Asgard, is stunning.

• Skyline Bar

And then there is Skyline Bar.

This has become one of our favourite places to visit on every Disneyland Paris trip, whether we are actually staying at Hotel New York or not.

The huge screens behind the bar create the illusion that you are looking out across the Manhattan skyline and, every so often, you might spot a familiar Marvel character swinging or flying past the windows.

It is such a nice escape from the madness of the parks.

After a long Disney day, sitting down with a cocktail in Skyline Bar has almost become a little tradition for us.

⭐ The Verdict: Is Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel Worth The Price?

Having stayed here, for us the answer is yes – with one fairly big condition.

You need to make time to enjoy the hotel.

Why Empire State Club Was Worth It For Us

Our Empire State Club stay was not memorable simply because the room was nice. It was being able to leave the parks in the afternoon and escape to the lounge for food and drinks. It was grabbing an espresso in the room before heading out in the morning. It was the fantastic service from luggage and concierge, exploring the artwork and finishing an evening with a drink in Skyline Bar.

Those little things are what made it feel like a properly premium Disney stay.

If we had left the room at 7am, stayed in the parks until closing and only returned to sleep, I am not sure we would have got anywhere near the same value from a club level room.

And that is probably the biggest thing to consider before booking.

Who Should (And Shouldn’t) Book It

If your Disneyland Paris style is rope drop to park close and your hotel is simply somewhere to shower and sleep, you could save a considerable amount by staying somewhere such as Disney Sequoia Lodge or Disney Hotel Cheyenne.

But if you want the hotel itself to become part of the holiday, Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is very difficult to beat.

Downtown remains my favourite Disney buffet, Skyline Bar is somewhere we visit on practically every trip and, after experiencing Empire State Club, I would happily stay there again.

Now I just need to find the budget for one of those Marvel suites…
