✨ August at Disneyland Paris: What to Expect (And Why I Secretly Love It)
August at Disneyland Paris? Yes, it’s busy. Yes, it’s hot. Yes, the chocolates you packed for your toddler now resemble some sort of warm, molten soup. But oh, it’s glorious.
This month delivers long opening hours, buzzing summer entertainment, and a feeling that everyone in Europe had the same magical idea: let’s go to Disneyland. And if that’s you too? Excellent choice.
Here’s everything you need to know if you’re braving Disneyland Paris in August—including closures (just one!), special show breaks, and my personal tips for surviving the heat with your sanity (and your snacks) intact.
🎒 What to Pack for Disneyland Paris in August
Packing smart can make a huge difference in the August heat. You’ll want to think cool, comfy, and ready for anything (including those sneaky summer thunderstorms!). A few of my must-haves?
- A refillable water bottle
- A change of clothes for sweaty afternoons
- Cooling towel (We’ve used these Sukeen cool towels for years, they’re amazing!) or a mini fan (this handheld misting fan is heavenly)
- Emergency poncho
- Snacks to tame the queue-time hanger
I’ve put together a full summer packing list with all my best suggestions:

🚫🚀 Ride Closures in August: Just Two (But They are Big Ones)
Here’s the scoop: Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast is closed for the entire month of August and until the end of 2025. Rumour has it, a dazzling refurbishment may be on the horizon.
Meanwhile, all other attractions are open and ready for adventure!
📝 Note: Thunder Mesa and the Pirate Galleon are still under semi-permanent closure, but we’ve all made our peace with that by now.
And if you were dreading the Studios Park having its usual one-attraction-down situation? Yep, there’s a sneaky last-minute refurb in Walt Disney Studios Park. Avengers Assemble: Flight Force is down Aug 25-29th 2025.
🎭 Show Breaks: Two Big Ones (But Only Right at the End)
Two of the most popular shows are going on a bit of a late-summer hiatus:
- The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands is closed from 31st August – 7th November.
- Mickey and the Magician is closed from 31st August – 12th December.
So if you’re planning to visit during the very end of the month, catch them early. Everyone else? You’re good!
📱 Don’t forget to check the daily schedule on the Disneyland Paris app for any last-minute updates or surprise closures.
☀️ How Hot Is It Really in August at Disneyland Paris?
Let’s just say: if Olaf visited in August, he would not survive. Expect temps in the high 20s to mid-30s °C (80s to 90s °F).
The sun means business. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself—it just means packing smart, pacing yourself and consuming lots of ice-cream!
✏️ One of my favourite August at Disneyland Paris tips? Save the wildest rides (and queues!) for after sundown.
😎 Beat the Heat Like a Pro
Here are some underrated but highly effective summer survival tips for Disneyland Paris:
- Bring a handheld fan (try chuckling into it and you’ll feel like a Disney villain in the best way)
- Tackle the longest waits in the evening. Big Thunder Mountain (pictured above) is fabulous at night, and much cooler!
- On the flipside, check the Disneyland Paris app for shorter waits. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril (pictured below) is often a 5-minute wait in the afternoon.
- Pack a change of shirt in your park bag—that morning outfit might be more humid than cute by lunchtime
- Dine during the hottest part of the day: I love PYM Kitchen for its big buffet and cool seating. Or check out more of my favourite restaurants.
- Schedule indoor breaks with shows like:
- The Music Hits Concert with Chip and Dale at Videopolis
- The Lion King (except 31st Aug)
- Mickey and the Magician (except 31st Aug) in Walt Disney Studios Park
- TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure in Walt Disney Studios Park
- Snack wisely:
- Gibson Girl (try the limited edition macaron ice cream sandwich!)
- March Hare Refreshments (Alice in Wonderland ice cream treats!)
- Mickey Bars at kiosks around the parks
- Cold glass of bubbly at the champagne cart if you’re feeling fancy
And finally: pack a poncho. Thunderstorms do happen! These family ones are great.
🌟 Smart Planning Tips for Families
- Go back to your hotel in the afternoon. Whether you’re staying on-site or in Val d’Europe (just one stop away), it’s worth it. Nap, swim, grab a drink, then head back for the cooler evening hours.
- Studios Park is quieter after 3PM. That’s your chance to hop on rides like Ratatouille or RC Racer without the earlier rush.
- Fireworks aren’t until 10:40PM. Plan accordingly—those naps we just talked about? Totally strategic.
- Expect flight delays in summer. Come prepared:
- Bring snacks and water bottles
- Download shows on your devices
- Pack toys for littles
- Power bank (this one’s brilliant and tiny!)
- Wedding proposals near the castle are a common (and adorable) sight this month! If that’s you—congrats! You won’t find official celebration buttons like in the US parks, but bride mouse ears and Pandora rings are in both parks and Disney Village.
👗 What to Wear at Disneyland Paris in August
Let’s talk outfits. Because obvs, it’s summer—but it’s Disney summer, which means in and out of tight rollercoasters, flash storms, and a not-surprising number of photo opportunities.
Breathable fabrics that don’t cling (you’ll thank me later)—like cotton, linen, or moisture-wicking blends. This is not the moment for a polyester princess ballgown.
✏️ PRO TIP If your little one is living their royal best life, try to find princess outfits that won’t roast them by 11am. Or bring the ballgown or superhero costume along and do a quick costume change in the restroom—especially if you’ve booked a blessedly air-conditioned meal like character dining.
☁️ And just when you thought you had your outfits sorted, don’t assume every day will be scorching. Some August mornings can be unexpectedly cool, especially early on. Pack a light sweatshirt or hoodie—you’ll be glad to have the extra layer at rope drop, and it’s easy to stash once the sun decides to show off.
👱🏻♀️ Pro tip: Do not trust your weather app. It will tell you it’s sunny and then unleash a full thunderstorm right before the parade. Or swear it’ll be sweltering, only for you to spend the morning in goosebumps. Pack for every version of August—mostly sun, but also rain and wind drama.

🎶 Disney Music Festival: Still Going!
The Disney Music Festival is still in full swing in August, and it’s one of the best things about visiting this time of year.
Here are the show highlights you won’t want to miss:
- Donald and Daisy’s Accordionist – surprisingly funny, and delightfully sweet
- Miguel’s Fiesta Latina – colourful, vibrant, and full of joyful energy
- Timon’s MataDance – get ready to sing, clap, and maybe even shimmy. Just get there early.
- Minnie’s Marching Band – my personal favourite! So charming and toe-tappy. Runs several times a day on Main Street USA.
- The Grand Orchestra Finale by the Castle – every evening at 7:30pm and absolutely unmissable. Bring tissues. And jazz hands.
📆 Want the exact lineup and times (including Goofy, who’s mysteriously missing from the app)?
