Best Alternative Disneyland Paris Castle Photo Spots (2026)
If you’ve been reading about the Sleeping Beauty Castle bridge refurbishment — I wrote a full breakdown of what’s happening and what it means for your trip here — you’ll already know that the classic front-on bridge shot isn’t available right now.
But you don’t need to worry about that because the thing I want you to take away from this post: the best Disneyland Paris castle photo spots aren’t even at the front. Not even close.

How to Get the Best Photos of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant [Sleeping Beauty Castle]
Disneyland Paris’ Sleeping Beauty Castle doesn’t have a bad angle, she really doesn’t. And once you know the less known places to look, you’ll be coming home with shots that most first-timers don’t have — because they never ventured five minutes away from crowded front.
So here are my favourite alternative castle photo spots at Disneyland Paris, all tried and tested, and all genuinely worth space on your camera roll.
And if you find tips like these useful, my Disneyland Paris Trip Planning Guide has everything you need to plan your whole visit in one place — itineraries, ride checklists, packing lists, the lot. Just saying.

#1 Iconic: Castle, Waterfall and Bridge
📍Location: The path to the left of the Sleeping Beauty Castle
The path that winds around the left side of the castle — currently just around the hoarding boards — is where I’d send my best friends first. Full stop.
You can get surprisingly close to the castle from here. Close enough to get the actual bridge in the background behind you. Because you’re below the castle, the angle is different from the straight-on front view (which everyone has seen a million times). You’re slightly side-on, the castle towers above you, and nobody is marching through in a determined crowd trying to get to Fantasyland, so it’s relatively empty.
Hand on heart, this has become my favourite spot for castle photos, construction boards or no boards. If you only try one spot from this list, make it this one.

📸 Photo spots captured by Amy from Wapshott Adventures going clockwise: Wishing well (pink, top), viewing platform in the Le Théâtre du Château area (peach), edge of castle stage (yellow), further back from castle stage (green), path on the left of the castle (pink, bottom), near the rock formation on left of the castle (blue), Auberge de Cendrillon pushchair area (lilac)
#2 Underrated: The ‘Le Théâtre du Château’ area
📍Location: Stage area, right side of the castle
These underrated Disneyland Paris castle photo spots are best demonstrated by the brilliant Amy Wapshott (you might know here from the Disneyland Paris First Timers Facebook group) in her graphic above.
Le Théâtre du Château, the castle stage area on the right side of the castle, gives you not one but three distinct photo spots (see graphic above if you need help finding it):

✨ (a) The viewing platform – Romantically Chic
Slightly elevated with a fence, this location is a bit further back which means you get a different angle from most people’s shots. The full Le Théâtre du Château structure is there (the ornate bronze gantry above the castle stage), with a wider view of the castle as your backdrop.
BONUS: The stage also looks stunning at Christmas when it’s decorated.

✨ (B) The edge of the castle stage itself – Capture the smiles
With this one, you get a clearer shot of the face of the person/people in your photograph, with the castle looming large in the frame close behind. This one is brilliant for a dramatic shot if you’re in a particularly good outfit (it deserves to shine!). Or, for those fantastic close-up shots of kids grinning in their costumes.
BONUS: I also think this spot shines in winter when the sky is doing its moody thing. Take a picture at night with the castle all lit up and no one would know it’d been grey and overcast all day.

✨ (c) a little further back from the stage – Lush landscape
Particularly on a blue sky day, this spot gives you more of the castle and the bridge together, plus green grass and a storybook tree in the frame, too.
BONUS: The wide view of the castle here makes it really lovely for group shots.

#3 Arguably the Prettiest Side of the Castle: Turrets, Lawns and (Maybe) Ducks
📍Right side of the castle
Find your way to the Fantasyland path that snakes along the far left of the castle (Adventureland side) and you’ll come to a spot where the full height of the castle shows its pink and blue glory. We’re talking turrets, golden details, the lot, and without a single other guest in your shot if you time it right. Plus, immaculate lawns, boxy topiary trees and, if you’re lucky, a duck or two waddling through.
On your own? Try the tip below for using the rocks nearby to your advantage! 👇

Whether you’re solo, a couple, or simply don’t want to ask a stranger to take your photo, try this cool rock trick:
With a bit of patience, find a spot in the rock formation along the Fantasyland/Adventureland path (along the farthest left of the castle as you’re facing it) to prop your phone up. Then, set a timer and position yourself in the frame. With a bit of luck, you’ll end up with a photo that looks like someone brilliant was behind the camera.
No one has to know it was a rock!

#4 Storybook Vibes: The Wishing Well
📍Location: Tucked into the right side of the castle
Take the route up the steps and on the left side of the castle from the Fantasyland side — not through it — and there’s a Snow White-style wishing well that most guests walk straight past without even glancing at.
The angle of the castle from here is really pretty in my opinion since it’s a bit more tucked away, and that wishing well makes it feel extra fairytale. And it’s perfect if you’ve got a little one twirling in her princess dress.
It’s the kind of spot that makes people ask ‘where was that taken?’

#5 The Instagram Worthy: Stone Wall Silhouette
📍Pushchair parking area for Auberge de Cendrillon restaurant, Fantasyland
I know. I know how this sounds. ‘The pushchair parking area’ is not exactly the most romantic photo location I’ve ever pitched to anyone.
But stay with me.
Just outside Auberge de Cendrillon restaurant in Fantasyland, there’s a stone wall with a special circular cut-out window that frames the castle in the most unexpected way — it’s almost cave-like, the stone curves around you, and the castle sits perfectly in the gap beyond. The contrast give you the kind of shot that stops people mid-scroll when you post it. The kind where people ask which filter you used, and you can answer ‘just lucky I guess.‘ 😏
It’s quiet, it’s easy to find once you know it’s there, and it feels like a secretly magical corner of the park.

Bonus Castle Photos: Secrets of the Back Courtyard and the ‘Other’ Castle

📍The Sword in the Stone – Castle Courtyard behind the castle
Just outside the castle on the Fantasyland side, the Sword in the Stone is an absolute gift for anyone travelling with children — or a Dad who fancies his chances.
Get your little one (or the most overconfident adult in your group) to have a proper go at pulling it out, and just… take the photos. The castle is right there behind them. Also fun to repeat the picture as they grow older.

📍 Le Carrousel de Lancelot – Fantasyland
Slightly more challenging, but worth attempting if you can time it right. A quick photo on a carousel horse with the castle framed behind you before it starts moving gives you something that looks too sweet to pass up.
You’ll need to be reasonably quick about it, and you may need to bribe whoever’s with you into helping (my selfie didn’t really work!), but the result is worth the mild chaos. And if you don’t manage the castle, hey, at least the ride was fun and you can get one with your beautiful horse.
Fantasyland hosts few other spots that I think people consistently overlook and absolutely shouldn’t.

📍The Secret Path Around the Castle
If you are in Fantasyland, head towards the castle, but instead of going through it, walk around the left side. The path down there has a ‘backstage access’ feel to it as it’s so empty! Keep going as it winds around and you’ll end up at a cute wall with the Castle behind it.

📍 The top of the Queen of Hearts Castle – Fantasyland
The view from the top of the Queen of Hearts Castle — the one that houses the Alice’s Curious Labyrinth attraction — is one that took me by surprise the first time I saw it.
On a clear summer day, looking back across Fantasyland towards the Sleeping Beauty Castle, it’s unexpectedly gorgeous. The labyrinth below, the oversized teapot, all those coloured rooftops, the castle rising up behind everything, blue sky above. Most people are so focused on getting through the labyrinth that they forget to climb the stairs. Don’t be most people.

The Bigger Picture (Pun Intended)
I visited Disneyland Paris once when a significant chunk of the castle itself was completely wrapped in scaffolding and a themed scrim — not just the bridge, the whole thing. I genuinely thought it was going to bother me the whole trip.
I’d completely forgotten about it within about forty minutes.
That’s the thing about this park. The front of the castle is stunning, but it’s not your whole trip — and some of the best memories (and photos) come from the things that go a little wrong. So, go explore and find your own best angle.
With all these Disneyland Paris castle photo spots, you’ll come home with more pictures than you know what to do with, and any construction will be a distant memory. Trust me on that one!
👉 And if tips like these are your thing, my Disneyland Paris Trip Planning Guide is basically everything I wish I’d had before my first visit — all in one place, none of the overwhelm.
