What are the Different Ways to Meet the Characters?
If youβre new to Disneyland Paris, note that there are 5 ways you can encounter characters.
These are:
- Classic meet-and-greets
- Roaming characters
- Parades
- Shows
- Character meals
In this article, weβll cover just the Halloween encounters: meets, roaming characters and the Halloween parade. Iβll explain each type of encounter. And, most importantly β where you can find all your favourite characters in their Halloween attire and the Disney villains making trouble in the park!
1. Meet-and-Greet Halloween Characters at Disneyland Paris
A traditional meet and greet is a designated area where you can queue for some one-on-one attention from your favourite character. You can get an autograph, a picture and even a hug!
Here are the details of who you can meet and where. Iβve added stars for their popularity β the more stars they have, the longer the queues will be. So you can plan accordingly!
β = average queue, 1 hour to 1.5 hrs
ββ = busier queue, 1.5 hours to 2 hours
βββ = ultra-busy, up to 3 hours (or more). (Plan to wait 1-2 hours before the queue opens.)
PRO TIP: Most of the character meeting times can be found in the Disneyland Paris app. Itβs always a good idea to double-check the app on the day of your visit in case of any changes.

2. Characters (Randomly) Roaming the Park
This character experience is not necessarily a meet-and-greet but more of an encounter: your Disney film favourites will sometimes do walk-throughs.
They are accompanied by a cast member and donβt usually stop for photos or autographs. Although, occasionally, they might choose to stop for you if you (or your child) is dressed in an outfit like theirs or other characters from their film. (IE Peter Pan and Wendy might stop to talk to a little girl dressed as Tinkerbell)
If youβre on the ball, you can grab a quick picture. The best part is β no waiting!
a) Disney Villainsβ Courtyard
In the courtyard at the back of Sleeping Beauty castle (near the sword in the stone), you may also run into a random villain up to no good.
These villains are roaming about causing mischief and making rude (and hilarious) observations. You can snap a picture as theyβre passing and sometimes they may choose you for a bit of banter if youβre lucky.
In the Disney Villainsβ Courtyard you might find:
- Lady Tremaine, Drizella and Anastasia β the stepmother and βuglyβ stepsisters from Cinderella
- Gaston β from Beauty and the Beast
b) Other Fantasyland Characters
Disneyland Paris loves to surprise guests. So keep your eye out for anyone who might be popping up to stir up some black magic.
For example, at certain times, you can see the Evil Queen from Snow White.
c) Character Activities at the Castle
At selected times, characters like Donald Duck in his devilish best, plus Chip and Dale in their ghostly costumes engage guests in a Mission Citrouilles.
The βPumpkin Missionβ is to save Halloween by reconstructing a set of Halloween pumpkin props near the castle stage. Times are not signposted, but, if youβre in the area, have a look by the Castle Stage (on the left side of the castle on your way to Small World) to see if it is happening.
d) Adventureland Surprises
Statuesque Jafar likes to glide along menacingly with his powerful snake staff. Try not to get in his way!
You might also catch quirky Jack Sparrow looking for treasure opportunities in Adventureland.
3. Characters in the Parade: Mickeyβs Halloween Celebration
If you want to see a lot characters in the same place, then a Disney parade is the place to be! Half country jamboree, half Phantom Manor ghoulies, the Halloween parade this year is a riot.
Character nuts (like me) will be thrilled to see the number of characters in Mickeyβs Halloween Celebration.
β° HALLOWEEN PARADE TIMES
Mickeyβs Halloween Celebration, the 2024 Halloween parade, is scheduled for 3:25 PM and 5:00 PM.
Thanksgiving Vibes
The parade opens with Daisy Duck wearing a pageant sash and little green dress with red gingham sleeves. She has a dance number with autumnal-dressed girls in orange pointy hats.
Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar join in next for more hoedown fun. And that leads to the bewitching Minnie Mouse appearing in a delicate orange and purple dress on her Thanksgiving cornucopia float.
Uncle Scrooge beams from a pumpkin and hay truck float, while Goofy moseys on over in his brightly coloured cowboy outfit with his rancher friends.
Devilish Delights
The other part of the parade has a spookier look.
It starts with Huey, Dewey and Louie, dressed as three little devils, rocking up in a magenta and purple rickety haunted house float. At the front is a wonderfully spooky statue of Pluto with bat wings.
And now the party steps into a different gear!
A mass of βdeadβ Phantom Manor dancers appear with purple and green Victoriana suits and dresses complete with veils, gloves and swishy skirts.
Then the star of the show, Mickey Mouse, steps into the scene with his lilac and indigo suit with lace tie and sleeves. His debonair top hat completes the look of a mouse confidently in charge of this Halloween spectacle!
Many of the characters and dancers step onto the platform stages in front of the castle and a fun Halloween pop song is an entertaining way to get some great character snaps.
Hundred Acre (Haunted) Woods
On one side of the hub a float with all your favourite Hundred Acre Wood characters.
Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit and Tigger are all there to bop along.
Although itβs disappointing they are not dressed for Halloween, they do have a spooky float with a twisted purple tree, jack-o-lanterns and some fun dancers, too.
The Rarest Halloween Appearance
Perhaps the star of the show, and certainly the one that commands everyoneβs attention, is the Phantom and Melanie Ravensclaw from Phantom Manor β two ultra-rare characters that were worth my trip alone.
Both participate in the dance on the platforms in front of the castle with a team of βdeadβ dancers in beautiful iridescent green suits.
One Last Trick
When the party concludes, Mickey disappears in the Haunted House float for a moment and reappears in a new outfit β a black jacket with gold trim, red and black striped trousers, red gloves and a burnt orange top hat. When itβs your party, you can wear as many outfits as you like!
5 Tips for Making the Most Out of Your Halloween Character Encounter
Characters are my main focus during Halloween at Disneyland Paris. The season is really short and itβs a great way to collect photos of my favourite Disney Villians and the Fab 5 in rare costumes.
Here are 5 tips and tricks for meeting Halloween characters and Disneyland Paris:
- Get to the queue as early as you can. They often close early because of being oversubscribed.
- Use a talking point if youβre shy around characters. Wear something interesting like Mouse Ears, or a T-shirt with a character on it. Or carry your favourite Disney toy. (Hey, Iβm an adult and I still have a Mickey plushie. No one bats an eyelid!) Characters love pointing to themselves on anything you have with you.
- Autograph books are fun and fill the time well. Better than that β I really love this cheap and easy photo frame.
- If a queue is closed, have a polite chat to the cast member in charge. Ask them for the next time that character will be there. βοΈ PRO TIP Get their advice on when to turn up to beat the crowds.
- The most enjoyable character encounters Iβve ever had are when I play along. Meeting Cinderellaβs stepsisters? Tell them how pretty they are. When you see Jafar, bow a little to His Excellency. π Tell Jack Sparrow you saw some treasure in Skull Rock. Ask Capt Hook if heβs hidden his rum somewhere. Compare your muscles to Gastonβs. Challenge Tigger to a jumping contest. In short: Use your imagination and let yourself believe in the magic for a precious few minutes. Trust me, those are the memories that live forever.

BONUS TIP: Donβt Miss a Spooky Selfie Opportunity!
Although we are talking about the Disneyland Paris Halloween characters in this post, I want to draw your attention to the many other ways you can get fantastic pictures.
Plenty of nooks and crannies are decked out in spectacular decor during Halloween. From Main Streetβs pumpkin patches to the eerie ambience of Phantom Manor, thereβs no shortage of photo ops.
Two parts of the main park are particularly beautiful with their Halloween decorations: Main Street USA and Frontierland.
Main Street is an Autumnal Delight
Around the gazebo at the top of Main Street USA, Disneyland Paris has gone all out with glowing pumpkins in jewelled colours and hilarious ghosties in different outfits.
There are plenty of lanterns, garlands, autumn foliage, and sunflowers to add a beautiful elegance.
Make sure to take photos with your family or just cute selfies with all the beautiful fall colours.
They Call me Coco Locoβ¦
Then, pop over to Frontierland. There is a trail of brightly coloured spirit animals and beautifully designed characters from Coco dotted throughout.
Look out for photo frames, scarecrows and jack-o-lanterns to take even more stunning photos.
Magic Shots
Lastly, if you have a PhotoPass, look out for special Halloween opportunities that pop up sporadically.
In Frontierland, by the main exit/entrance gate, there is a friendly photographer with hardly a queue at all. When I was there, he was doing a Lock, Shock and Barrel Magic Shot β perfect for fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas!
Thereβs also a Stitch Magic Shot. If you canβt manage the 3-hour wait to meet him in person, this could be a happy compromise!
Enchantment Awaits YOU!
I am utterly obsessed with all the Halloween characters at Disneyland Paris this year, and I canβt wait for you to fall in love with them, too.
Itβs impossible not to smile when you see Mickey as an elegant vampire, Minnie as a sparkling witch, and Goofy as a hilarious (and very tall!) skeleton.
So pack your bags, grab your camera, and head to the happiest, spookiest place on Earth. You wonβt be disappointed! Disney magic meets Halloween enchantment, and itβs a match made in heaven. Or perhaps β in the underworldβ¦
