July at Disneyland Paris: What to Pack, What to Wear & How to Survive the Crowds
Ah, July. That glorious mix of sun cream, long park hours, and the unmistakable scent of your money disappearing into the Gibson Girl queue to be spent on copious amounts of ice cream. If you’re planning a trip for July at Disneyland Paris, congrats! You’re about to experience one of the liveliest times of the year—with all the joy, sunburns, and queue-induced meltdowns that come with it.
But don’t panic. I’ve conquered the parks in the height of summer, and I’m here to share everything you need to know to beat the heat, dodge the crowds, and, of course, look fabulous while doing it. Plus, I’ve got a free July calendar for you, filled with show breaks and attraction closures (because the only surprises we want are of the magical kind).

☀️ Weather in July: Sunshine & Storms (Sometimes Both in One Day)
Let’s start with the obvious: July is hot. And I mean, ‘why did I wear black leggings?’ hot. Daytime highs usually sit around 26–30°C, but it’s not unheard of to get the odd 35°C scorcher. Then, just when you’ve accepted your fate as an egg in a frying pan, the sky decides to throw a thunderstorm your way—and suddenly you’re €16 poorer because you had to buy a park poncho.
And the humidity? It’s enough to melt Elsa’s eyelashes right off.
🧳 What to Pack for July at Disneyland Paris
Believe me when I say that what you pack can make or break your summer Disney trip. Pack smart, and you’ll feel like a breezy park-hopping pro. Forget something vital, and you’ll find yourself panic buying flip flops in Primark Val d’Europe—which, while satisfying, does cut into your park time.
Absolute musts:
- Cooling towel or mini fan – Life-changing. Especially while queuing for a character meet in the Sahara. I mean over by Cowboy Cookout.
- Refillable water bottle – Fill up at fountains around the park.
- Reusable straw – Drinking cold drinks at quick service? Those paper straws evaporate pretty much on contact.
- Sun cream – The dry-touch spray ones are the best—especially if you have kids who squawk at being slopped up with the lotion kind.
- Anti-chafe balm – If you know, you know. And if you don’t… you will.
- Sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat – It’s basically portable shade, and often more practical than my UV umbrella (which I still love).
- Mini deodorant – Do all the other park guests a favour and freshen up in the toilets halfway through the day.
- Hand wipes – Because ice cream catastrophes, toddler hugs with chocolatey fingers and a hundred other things that are theme-park exclusive will be more tolerable the quicker you can make them less sticky!
📌 Oh—and for families, I’ve got a full Kids’ Packing List post too! Don’t forget the Calpol and glow sticks.

👗 What to Wear in the Parks in July
Dressing for Disneyland Paris in July is a delicate balance between cute and cool (temperature-wise). This isn’t the time for heavy cosplay or your new sequin jacket (unless you want to melt like Olaf in a sauna).
Top outfit tips:
- Loose cotton dresses, airy shorts, linen trousers, baggy t-shirts—anything breathable.
- Comfy, broken-in shoes. I once saw someone try to do the parks in espadrille wedges. Reader, she was not okay.
- A lightweight cardi or thin hoodie for the evenings. Yes, even in summer. Especially if you stay for fireworks.
- A spare top in your bag. Because profusely sweating through your first one is not unlikely..
👱🏻♀️FWIW: My trademark DLP in summer look is a simple outfit with Minnie ears, a Disney-themed backpack and fun sunglasses—let your accessories do the talking! (And yes, I do pack my ears in ziploc bags to keep the bows pristine. I am who I am.)

Save it to your phone and stick it to your fridge. Or your kid’s forehead. (Only joking! Ha!)

🎢 Top Tips to Swerve the Summer Crowds
Alright, let’s talk crowds. July is peak family season—the French and Spanish schools break up, the Brits arrive en masse, and every child in a 300km radius seems to be in a queue for Peter Pan’s Flight.
Here’s how to outsmart the masses:
1. Arrive early. You can usually get through the security checkpoint 30–45 minutes before posted opening. It’s worth it.
2. Use Extra Magic Time. If you’re staying in a Disney hotel or have a Gold annual pass, you’ll get in an hour earlier. Head straight for Fantasyland or Discoveryland—or if you’re in Disney Adventure World, go for Frozen Ever After, Ratatouille or Crush’s Coaster.

3. Eat at odd times. Breakfast at 7am, lunch at 11:15, dinner at 4:45. You’ll dodge the meal rush and get the shortest queues while everyone else is chewing.
4. Don’t leave right after fireworks. I usually hang back on Central Plaza for 15 minutes then mooch through the shops on Main Street. Bonus: lovely castle pics and no human stampede.
5. Do just one park hop per day (or not at all if you can manage it). It’s exhausting in the heat, and probably only worthwhile to do Disneyland Park in the morning, then hop to Studios after 3 PM. Maybe sneak a cheeky hotel rest in between (especially if there’s a pool!).
6. Use Premier Access strategically. Prioritise big queues like Spider-Man, Big Thunder Mountain, Crush’s Coaster. Skip it for Cars Road Trip. (More tips in my Premier Access guide.)

🍦 Cool-Down Snacks & Drinks
For adults my recommendations are:
- Frozen Margarita Slushies at Casa de Coco – YES.
- Cold champagne – Find it at the champagne cart near Gibson Girl (Disneyland Park) or near at the kiosk near Premier Plaza (Disney Adventure World).
For everyone:
- Gibson Girl ice cream – The queues are scary, so go at least an hour before the parade.
- March Hare Refreshments – Amazing sundaes. Try for off-peak times.
- Victoria’s Home Style Restaurant – Perfect for cold mocktails, fun desserts and cool indoor seating.
- Mickey ice cream bars – Iconic summer treat, available at kiosks dotted around both parks.

🧚 Chill-Out Spots & Show Breaks
Take regular breaks and aim for indoor queues or shows when the sun is at its sassiest.
Screenshot these top picks:
- Mickey and the Magician – Indoors, magical, and definitely cooler than the mid-day sun.
- TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure – Another good one for escaping the heat.
- Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands – Epic show, lovely shade.
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – Funny, cool, and hardly ever full.
- Star Tours – Queue is inside and blissfully cool.
- Pirates of the Caribbean and ‘it’s a small world‘ – Boat rides = shady joy.
- Ratatouille and Avengers Flight Force – Both have indoor queues (and Flight Force is so fast, you’ll swear there’s AC blowing on your face).
- Adventureland Caves – Cool, shady, and beautifully peaceful.
- Aladdin’s Enchanted Passage – A quiet, almost air-conditioned walkthrough that’s often overlooked in Adventureland.
- Explore the Castle! Head downstairs to see the dragon in the dungeon (yes, really), or upstairs to walk through Sleeping Beauty’s story in stained glass. There are even shops inside—including a charming Christmas shop (Christmas in July, anyone?), a storybook-themed basement shop, and a glassmaker where you can have a custom wand made.
Want to shop? Pop into Disney Village. You’ve got:
- World of Disney
- Lego Store
- The new Deco by Disney, Disney Glamour and Disney Style shops in Disney Village
- Lunch at Annette’s, Earl of Sandwich, McDonald’s or Starbucks for ice coffee
💡 TL;DR Avoid midday lines when you can. Use that time for cool wandering, snacks, or a break back at the hotel.

💖 Final Thoughts from the Shade of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle
I hope from all this, you’ve sensed that I’ve been to Disneyland Paris in summer many, many times. And that’s because it is one of my favourite times to visit. Yes, it’s busy. Yes, it’s hot. But it also means longer hours, fewer ride closures, more characters out and about, and plenty of summer sparkle.
