Bargain Hotel Near Disneyland Paris? 4-Star Residhome Val d’Europe is a Steal!

Booking the perfect hotel is one of the first things you do when planning your trip to Disneyland Paris. Finding the best place to stay that is comfortable, convenient and in your price range can be really confusing! One of my favourite budget hotels is the Residhome Val d’Europe for Disneyland Paris visitors. I was shocked that this 4-star hotel has mini-suites and is super close to Disney! Let’s take a deep dive into exactly where it is, what the rooms are like, when the dining room is open, and if it’s worth your money.

Why people choose Residhome Val d’Europe for Disneyland Paris

To maximise your (very expensive!) entry tickets, you want to stay as close to the parks as possible. But herein lies the problem: The closer you are to Disney, the pricier your room will be.

BUT, if you are looking for an even more affordable room (that’s still close to the parks!), you should consider the hotels in Val d’Europe.  

In this full review of Residhome Val d’Europe for Disneyland Paris visitors, I want to highlight just how much you can save by staying offsite. Plus, the unbelievable extra comfort that Residhome can provide.

Location, Location Location

How accessible your hotel is can be the key factor in its value. There is no point in a cheap hotel if it’s in the sticks!

Good news, because Val d’Europe is a neighbourhood extremely close to Disneyland Paris. In fact, from Disney Village to Resdihome Val d’Europe, it is under 2km.

3 Ways to Get From Disneyland Paris to Residhome Val d’Europe

1. Take a taxi. Use your favourite app like Bolt or Freenow to order a taxi. The pickup point from Disneyland Paris is adjacent to the bus depot on the side of Marne la Vallée/Chessy train station.
2. Walk. Residhome is about a 30 minute walk (2.2km) from the parks. If you are not worn out from your day at Disney, use Google Maps to direct you. There is a direct route from Disney Village. Walk 60 metres southeast from Vapiano’s, walk straight through the roundabout, keeping left to stay on Rue de la Planchette when it forks. After 290 metres, turn right on Av. Herge and continue for 1.2km. When you reach the roundabout, you need to go left on Bd du Grand Fosse. Shortly you will come to Residhome on your right.
3. Use the RER A train (my favourite method!). Next to Disneyland Paris is Marne la Vallée/Chessy station, and inside there is access to the RER A (metro) train. Go to the counter or use the ticket machines to purchase a ‘Billet origine-destination’ (point-to-point ticket) to Val d’Europe. As of January 2024, this costs € 2.20 one way. ✏️ PRO TIP Buy multiple train tickets to save time later; there is no expiration date.

The reason why taking the RER A train is my favourite is because it involves the least amount of effort and walking. The train journey is only a couple of minutes, and the train station’s exit at Val d’Europe is about 30 seconds from Residhome Val d’Europe.

As a solo traveller, I feel safest taking this train route, even late at night.

✏️ PRO TIP When you are stepping off the train at Val d’Europe, be sure to walk to the exit on your RIGHT. The left-hand exit will take you on a longer route. Take the staircase up, then walk across (over the tracks) and outside. Residhome is less than a minute away on the right, you can’t miss it.

Rating the Room’s Comfort and Hotel Amenities

I really like Residhome Val d’Europe for Disneyland Paris guests because it is spacious, comfortable, and has extra amenities you won’t find at most budget hotels.

• The accommodation at Residhome is more like mini-suites than hotel rooms. The property offers modern studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. The living area is apart from the bedroom. And the toilet is separate from the bathroom, offering you more flexibility when sharing with other people.
• Reception is open 24/7 and I have found the staff are friendly and helpful.
• A secure room is available to leave your luggage.
• A lift is available to take you and your heavy luggage up to your room.

• Laundry room (great for families or if you are taking a longer trip through Europe)

👱🏻‍♀️My Review of the Hotel Room at Residhome Val d’Europe

I have stayed in the 1-bedroom suite several times. It has a separate bedroom with a huge closet and a living space with a kitchenette and breakfast bar. There are 2 large TVs, one facing the sofa in the living area and one in the bedroom. The best part is the bed which is soft and comfortable (I love the pillows!). I really appreciate having a full-length mirror in the small hallway and being able to make breakfast porridge in the microwave. The shower and separate bath are amazing, too!

Is There Anywhere to Eat?

Residhome Val d’Europe offers a snack bar Monday to Saturday from 4pm to midnight (though on at least one occasion I can remember that not being open at 10pm).

A breakfast buffet is available 7 days a week. It is continental style with bread, pastries, meats, cheeses, and a small amount of fruit.

Don’t forget that the largest shopping centre in Europe is only a 5-minute walk away! Val d’Europe shopping centre has a massive grocery store with anything you could want and more. There is also a bistro at the end of the square.

👱🏻‍♀️My Review of the Breakfast Buffet at Residhome Val d’Europe

If there is one area of the hotel that is not as good as the rest, I would say it is the dining options. There is a lovely-looking bar and restaurant, but they only cook bar snacks. And it is only open during the late-afternoon and evening.

The breakfast buffet is considerably cheaper than the Disney hotels (£13) and is really convenient, if you’re short on time. But in my opinion it is just a basic breakfast. On my recent visit the pastries and crepes didn’t taste fresh (which is unusual for a French hotel!, fruit was limited, and overall options a little scarce for vegetarians. Saying that, nothing was terrible! It just wasn’t to the same standard as other hotels in the area.

On the plus side, the hot chocolate is unlimited and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend you try it if you’re there.

As an alternative to the buffet here, I often bring food and use the kitchenette in my room. Or, I buy a hot sandwich from Starbucks at the train station. As a treat, I sometimes enjoy breakfast at Disneyland Paris, like the delightful Plaza Gardens character meal.

Is This Hotel Good Value For Money?

Now that we’ve talked about the spacious rooms and the hotel amenities, let’s discuss the price!

Of course, prices fluctuate depending on what season you visit. But I have always found Residhome Val d’Europe considerably the cheapest in comparing it with Disney hotels. It is slightly more expensive than IBIS Budget next door, but IBIS Budget offers more of a hostel-style room whereas Residhome is a mini apartment.

The Cost of Staying at Residhome Val d’Europe for Disneyland Paris visitors 

For the February half-term, a 1-bedroom suite for 2 people cost me only £97 per night. 

Compare this with the cheapest Disney hotel, Hotel Cheyenne, at £275 per night and you will see substantial savings.

Compare Residhome Val d’Europe with Disney Cheyenne and Disney Santa Fe

You might be wondering how staying at the Residhome Val d’Europe compares with Disney Hotel Cheyenne and Santa Fe, the two Disneyland Paris budget hotels.

Here are my pros and cons of staying at Residhome Val d’Europe as opposed to a Disney on-site hotel.

➕ Pros of Residhome Val d’Europe

• Value. Rooms are considerably cheaper at Residhome.
• Space and amenities. Apartments come with a kitchenette that has a cooker, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker, refrigerator, dishwasher and breakfast bar. This is an added convenience for families.
• Transport. Taking the RER A train is preferable to the busy Disney hotel shuttle (for some people).
• Separate park ticket. If you are a Disneyland Paris annual passholder, you may see even more value in booking your hotel separately. (If you are looking to book a ticket package, this may not be for you – see below) 

➖ Cons of Residhome Val d’Europe

• Lack of Disney perks. Staying at a Disney Hotel entitles you to Extra Magic Hour (one hour earlier to enter the parks). However, you do need to wake up an hour earlier to use this. Also, the Disney hotels have free hotel shuttles.
• Theming. There are no Disney touches at Residhome. The hotel style is similar to the Holiday Inn in the UK. 
• Transportation. No Disney shuttle available (although this is pro for some people)
• Dining. Disney hotels have better buffet and dining options but at an additional cost.
• Tickets. Residhome Val d’Europe does not offer a Disneyland Paris ticket package. If you are staying in off season with 2 children and 2 adults, it may be worth comparing the price of booking with Disney directly, as it includes park tickets.

• Neither hotel offers a swimming pool.

My Overall Thoughts

Let’s get down to brass tacks. Is Residhome Val d’Europe perfect for you?

If value and space are your priorities in a hotel, then that’s a definite yes! Residhome offers lovely, clean and spacious rooms with your own kitchenette. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is decorated to a high standard. Being one stop from Disneyland Paris on the RER A, and 30 seconds from the station, you can’t beat the location.

However, if you are after a Disney-themed experience, and don’t mind paying a premium, you should check out Disney Hotel Santa Fe and Hotel Cheyenne. These are two excellent budget hotels on-site, and you can compare costs quite easily on Hotels.com (don’t forget to click TopCashback to get money back on your booking!).
